Missy is such a kind, sweet, and loving soul to everyone she meets. She touched so many hearts here, and it was clear how loved she was by the many friends who came to support her graduation. We are so proud of her strength and the progress she’s made. Saying goodbye was emotional, but we know she’s leaving us with brighter days ahead. ♥️

We had the honor of serving dinner to families at the Ronald McDonald House at Children’s Mercy on Friday. Families are strongest when they can be together, and to provide them with a prepared nutritious meal when they are likely going through one of the toughest challenges of their lives, was truly a blessing. “The medical community has taken another step toward implementing a new, more robust traumatic brain injury characterization system” for many patients the current system does not reflect their long term recovery. Earlier this year, brain injury experts met to discuss updating the terminology we use to characterize traumatic brain injuries. This new system would move away from labeling brain injuries as mild, moderate, and severe and would instead use other criteria, like blood biomarkers and CT scans, to evaluate the injury.
