They met in high school and have been a couple since the summer of 1963. They married in 1968. They have three grown children and four grandchildren. Tom served in the U.S. Army for three years, worked with the 3M corporation and then had a 30 year career with SWB, SBC and AT&T. Prior to studying massage he also learned to repair antique clocks and enjoyed that avocation. While raising their three

children Mary provided child care services for a few children and also taught piano lessons. Later she worked in retail, in a call center and as a bilingual educator. She also taught both ESL and Spanish to senior adults at The Summit Senior Center. Tom and Mary attended the North Texas School of Swedish Massage in Arlington, Texas, in the fall of 2006 and after passing state exams and obtaining a Texas Massage License began practicing massage in May of 2007. Initially the couple worked out of Signature Salon in Grand Prairie, Texas and later worked out of Kabetzke Chiropractic Clinic as well. In 2010 both Mary and Tom began working as massage therapists for The Summit Senior Center, a state-of-the art facility owned and operated by the city of Grand Prairie. They continued at The Summit Senior Center until the summer of 2017. Mary and Tom moved to Gardner, Kansas, in July of 2017 to be near their daughter and her family. The couple then began to build a new massage business which they named Gardner Massage. Initially they rented a room inside the DesignCo Salon on Main Street. In November of 2018 Mary and Tom moved Gardner Massage to their own suite located at 137 E. Shortly after this move their new Kansas business began to thrive. In mid-March of 2020 Tom and Mary believed it was necessary to shut down Gardner Massage in order to protect their clients as well as themselves. As many other people around the country they spent a year in lockdown mode, waiting to see what the future would bring. In March the couple was able to receive two doses of the Pfizer vaccine which meant that they could follow through on plans to re-open Gardner Massage. In April of 2021 they joyfully re-opened their business. The couple has been very encouraged to see the rapid return of their previous clients and looks forward to meeting and caring for more clients here in Gardner and the surrounding area. Every year Mary and Tom enjoy taking Continuing Education classes and incorporating what they have learned into their practice. Their goal is always to work within your comfort level. They do not believe that it is necessary to cause pain in order to relieve pain. They see themselves as specialists in relieving pain and work with many clients who suffer from back pain, neck, hip and knee pain. Their goal is always to get you out of pain while carefully evaluating and releasing muscle tension throughout your body. In addition to this therapeutic work, Tom and Mary offer relaxation massage and massage facials to their clients.
