Mountain Spirit Herbs embraces the Native American concept of the earth as our Mother – our Healer. Our planet as nurturer asks us to learn about her gifts and treat her with respect. We respond to the language of the living earth by “Bringing in the Harvest” and the result is a team of permaculturists and wild-crafters who have learnt to relate to over 75 different indigenous or naturalized plants. Our harvesting grounds is The Valley of the Orphans called Huerfano Valley– one of the highest, underpopulated mountain valleys in Southern Colorado’s Rockies. Huerfano valley includes three national wilderness areas- including 14000 foot, Mt Blanca, the rapidly shrinking southern most glacier in the United States.

Mountain Spirit Herb’s vision originated in the 60s out of the need to radically change the way we live in relationship to our environment and the planet. We chose to go back to the land and learn how to live simply, cooperatively and sustainably with Mother Nature and each other. We were fortunate to have indigenous peoples to teach us. Now in our age of climate extremes and environmental crisis this vision again finds relevance and it is our turn to pass on this knowledge to you. Sustainable lifestyle includes creating your own pharmacy directly from the earth without dependancy on modern medicine. Your medicine chest grows out of the healing plants who connect you to the planet in a special way.
