Heywood Healthcare School Based Services Heywood’s school based programs offer youth support with mental health needs, medical needs, substance abuse treatment, youth mentors and community resources.

Heywood Healthcare's School Based Service Program offers youth & their families support with mental health needs, medical needs, substance use treatment, youth mentoring and community resource assistance. Even though our program is school based, we do offer services year round. We are based in several local school districts:
--> Athol-Royalston School District
--> Gardner Public School District
--> Narragansett Regional Middle & High School
--> RC Mahar Regional School District
--> Winchendon Public School District

Services available vary by school. A menu of available services at each site is included in the referral form. Referrals can be made electronically and will be sent directly to our team. The Brookline Center recently released the FY25 School-Based Telebehavioral Health Report, highlighting the statewide impact of this innovative pilot — with Heywood Healthcare (Model 1) featured as a key partner!

💬 Heywood Highlights:

📉 Lowest no-show rate: just 9% (vs. 15% at other sites)

🌟 Stronger reach: 5.6% of enrolled students accessed services (vs. 2.5%)

💙 Better outcomes: 45% of students showed improved anxiety & depression scores

🤝 Equity in action: CHWs and interpreter services recognized as best practices in rural access
