Major mistakes I see people making is drinking Protein post-workout but no carbs with it.
If you don’t replace the glycogen you lost post workout your cortisol levels stay high .. and you stay in a catabolic state. You need to switch that to an anabolic state. Also, your body could use that protein to turn it into sugar to replace the lost glycogen (this is called gluconeogenesis). Insulin released from carbs is extremely anabolic. It’s one of the most anabolic hormones in your body…. UTILIZE IT !! Especially at certain times of the day. Every single time you intake protein you NEED carbs with it if you are trying to grow.
There is so much more to this but I can’t fit all of it in one post. Long story short …. Never have a protein only meal or shake when trying to grow … that’s what you do when you are trying to LOSE weight. Because protein increases your metabolism , and you are not intaking any fuel with that protein.
