Embrace → Redefine
Each year
in the quiet between Christmas and New Year
I pause…
and ask for a word.
In 2025
the word was embrace.
It didn’t arrive gently.
It arrived whole.
It asked me to hold
the pain…
the laughter…
the waiting rooms and test results…
the goodbyes that came slowly…
and the hellos that surprised me.
It asked me to sit with change…
with a body that needed tending…
with an identity reshaping itself…
with endings I didn’t plan
and beginnings I couldn’t yet name.
I embraced moments…
small shifts…
quiet realizations…
the work of letting go
one breath at a time.
I learned I am not who I was…
and that this is not a loss.
The gray in my hair
is not an ending…
it is an opening.
I am still discovering
who I am…
what I want…
where I’m going…
only now
I travel with wisdom in my pocket
and tenderness in my hands.
As this year closes
I am healthier…
clearer…
more honest about who belongs
and who does not.
Dreams are stirring…
not roaring…
just glowing…
small embers waiting for air.
When I asked for my word for 2026
it came softly…
redefine.
Because it is never too late
to become again.
To imagine differently.
To choose new paths…
new loves…
new ways of being.
I have no resolutions.
Only gratitude…
for breath…
for time…
for love that stayed.
Every day above ground
is the gift.
To those who have walked with me…
for years or for moments…
thank you.
May 2026 be gentler.
May it be truer.
May we all have the courage
to redefine.
Happy New Year.
