Exhalation:
If you do not give you can not receive. It is a Universal Law. It is important to learn to exhale fully so you can receive each inhalation. The inhalation brings in new energy but it won't take you beyond your self imposed limits until you change your exhalation. The exhalation refines out the impurities that shouldn't be in your life and makes space for new energy to come in. The lower part of the lungs have far denser capillary beds than the upper part. This is where we can absorb the greatest amount of prana and oxygen from the inhalation. The lower half of the lungs are often occupied by old, stale air. As you take a fresh new inhale the old air in the bottom of the lungs gets compressed further into those vital lung tissues. You must exhale fully to clear your lungs so that the next breath will deliver fresh oxygen and prana where it will do the most good for you. As you learn to use the strength of the navel to exhale instead of letting the exhale be passive and collapsing your chest and lower back; it is as though the navel point is beaming the exhalation up to the heart
