Today we took two of our "Friends for Life" residents who enjoy sewing and quilting for a day of adventure at the Plano Quilter Conference! Gary just finished this quilt last week and brought it to get appraised. They had a great day of interacting with fellow quilters, enjoying a delicious lunch, and of course, shopping!

If we could recap the last seven nights and eight days with these residents in Galveston, we would start by saying that it is a pure joy to witness the looks on their faces as they re-live memories of decades past and experience new adventures.

Over the course of these days, residents have driven in 1920s-featured electric cars, learned about the history of the flood of 1900, experienced homemade curled ice cream, went deep sea fishing, and today, we spent the day at the beach, where one resident sat in the ocean eating a cherry flavored snow-cone, which she hadn't experienced since she was 10 years old. Two residents sat in the ocean and soaked up the sun as it energized them like they had never experienced.

Two residents took a helicopter ride high in the sky. We ended the day by eating leftovers and getting ready to head back home in the morning.

Thank you all for the opportunity to serve you and experience these days.

Our time here in Jamaica Beach has been a blast. Today was a day of doing whatever we wanted...from staying in our PJ's all day (or coffee pants as we call them), to visiting Moody Gardens, to baking cakes, watching TV and playing games. Our dinner was rib eyes, baked potatoes, fried corn with tomatoes, homemade waffle cones with three types of homemade ice cream - peanut butter, Reese's chocolate ice cream, peach ice cream and banana ice cream followed by watching the movie "The Last Rodeo". Tomorrow is our last day to play in the sand and be beach bums! We've had a great time!

Sit back and enjoy a "Whale of a Tail" from the adventures on the high seas from our brave fishing trip. Those who stayed on land enjoyed a day of fierce competition with Mexican trains. We finished the day with delicious food at Salsas. Stay tuned for further adventures from Jamaica Beach!

We are o-fish-ally on island time!

We enjoyed brunch at 10:00 a.m. at the amazing Sunflower Café, followed by a ride on the Galveston Island Ferry, where we drove around and appreciated the lighthouse and explored Fort Travis Seashore Park on the Bolivar Peninsula, after which we just had to stop and partake in some souvenir shopping at Murdoch's. Then, we had a delicious grilled dinner of freshly made hamburgers, brats, corn on the cob, macaroni salad, potato salad and watermelon. For dessert, we had triple chocolate brownies with cold milk.

We felt fin-tastic as we watched the sunset on the deck!

Tomorrow, we're going deep-sea fishing 45 miles off the coast!

We have been taking advantage of the beautiful weather and seizing the day with a lot of adventures and are having a "whale" of a time! Saturday was a relaxing day in our beach house with a delicious dinner at Bubba Gump Shrimp Restaurant. Sunday we went on a 2-hour tour learning about "Restoring Galveston" TV shows work and had yummy ice cream at the Cordray shop. Shout out to our Brookdale partners at Eversound, the headphones made our guided tour top-notch! Afterwards we drove around in our 1920s golf carts (thank you to Veronica at Carriage Haus Rentals) exploring the island and then spent the evening eating pizza from Way West pizza and played games and watched TV. Stay tuned for further adventures.... we are feeling beachy today!

Soon after Golee moved into Brookdale Browns Creek, she looked across the dining table and saw a familiar face. Peggy had worked with her at a local school for more than 20 years, and they were reunited once again! Life had brought them full circle, and we can't wait to see them take on this new chapter together. 💙
