WHAT A DAY!! Yesterday we hosted over 100 third grade students from West Hancock and GHV for our annual Ag Fair at the Hancock County District Fairgrounds.

This year we introduced a two-part learning experience for the students that featured a First Responder/Farm Safety Segment AND an Agriculture Segment.

A huge thank you to Forest City, GHV and WH FFA Chapters as this event would not have happened without them! The FFA students brought livestock, equipment, presented to students, and lead the third graders from station to station.

HCFB would also like to send a sincere and heartfelt thank you to the following: Randy Hiscocks, Evan Beshey and the Hancock County Fair Board, Garner Fire Department, Chief Martinez with Britt PD, West Hancock Ambulance Service, MercyOne North Iowa Air Med, K.C. Nielsen of Kanawha, Jason Lackore with Hancock County Conservation, Riley Pringnitz with NEW Coop, Hancock County Extension Office and their County Council members, and Vanessa Trampel with Iowa Corn. We appreciate your time, resources, and energy devoted to educating the youth of Hancock County. The day was a celebration of the various ways different entities work together to help and support our local farmers!

In June of 1953, the "Iowa Bureau Farmer" wrote its final edition before merging with the Iowa Farm Bureau Spokesman. In honor of our Young Farmer Tailgate coming up, and the recent Market Study Trip to the Netherlands, we thought this was a fitting throwback! While the terms "Young Farmer" and "Market Study Trip" weren't used back in 1953, it is evident that providing these similar opportunities to Iowa Farmers nearly 70 years ago was still a foundational pillar of our great organization!

From Iowa to Oregon, to Washington, to Canada, and back home… This trip could’ve been yours for the price of $156.25 (plus meals!) 😊

Congrats, Randy!!

Congrats, Randy!!

Congratulations to our very own Randy & Mel Hiscocks for being awarded the The Heart of the County Fair Award at the Iowa State Fair!🏆🎉👏

The Heart of the County Fair Award honors exceptional Iowans who have made significant contributions to their local fairs and communities. There were five families selected from around the state and they were honored today with a plaque and special recognition, made possible by Beck’s Hybrids in partnership with the Iowa State Fair.

We are so lucky to have the Hiscock's involved in our fair for over 22 years!
