This Wednesday marked our inaugural Wellness Wednesday in IOP, and it was a powerful one! 💥
Steve Pinette, LCSW, led the group through mindfulness exercises, including mindful breathing, walking meditation, mindfully eating (chocolate…yum 🍫), and a loving kindness meditation — bringing space for connection, reflection, and support.
We also welcomed Wendy Dunn, LCSW and Reiki practitioner where she provided reiki during the mindfulness exercises, spending approximately 5-8 minutes on each client two separate times. Clients described reiki as “curious” and rendered speechless in a good way✨
Holistic practices like mindfulness, movement, and energy work aren’t just “extras”…research shows they can increase long-term recovery outcomes by reducing stress, improving emotional regulation, and helping clients stay engaged in treatment. Recovery isn’t one-size-fits-all and our Wellness Wednesdays are just one way we’re showing up differently. 🌞
