It’s with much excitement that we announce Goldie Kirkland as the Recover-Care everyday care champion for 2026.
Goldie Kirkland has been a dedicated and beloved member of the Parkview Heights team for 15 years, serving in the Laundry Department. Now in her 70s, Goldie continues to show up each day with purpose, pride, and an unwavering commitment to our community. While her role is often behind the scenes, her presence and impact are felt throughout the entire building. To Goldie, caring for residents’ clothing is about dignity, comfort, and respect.
Goldie goes above and beyond because Parkview Heights is more than a workplace, it is part of her life and her wellbeing. She often arrives as early as 4:00 a.m. so she can get a head start on laundry, knowing that certain residents prefer specific clothing items and wanting those favorites back in their closets as soon as possible. On one occasion, when her schedule was adjusted to give her an extra day off, Goldie was upset and said, “No, I need to be here.” Recognizing that her work and connection to the facility are vital not only to our residents but also to her own wellbeing, her schedule was thoughtfully adjusted to support her continued presence.
Goldie consistently looks out for the entire Parkview Heights family. She notices when staff members are having a difficult time and will step in to help or approach leadership to ask what more can be done. During bad weather, Goldie comes in early to help clear sidewalks and spread salt, ensuring driveways and walkways are safe so residents, families, and staff can enter the building safely. Her compassion, reliability, and willingness to help wherever needed set a powerful example for others.
Goldie takes time to truly know our residents and their families, building meaningful relationships grounded in trust and kindness. She is also affectionately known as “Wally’s keeper.” Goldie ensures Wally visits residents at least three times a day throughout the entire building, bringing comfort and joy. Wally clearly adores Goldie—she feeds him most often and provides the most treats—and his ever-growing collection of clothing and toys reflects her generosity and love. She takes him to see Santa, out for pup cups and just out for rides.
Goldie Kirkland will do anything for anyone. She cares deeply for our residents, supports our staff, and protects the heart of our facility with unmatched selflessness. Her compassion, dedication, and attention to detail embody the true spirit of a Care Champion.
Goldie is not just an employee, she is family and she deserves recognition as Champion of the year.
