HEALTH: Reality of mammograms. Please be aware.

I have been informing my female patients for decades NOT to get yearly mammograms. Besides the huge quantity of false positives, you are continually and unnecessarily introducing radiation into the breast tissue (that NEVER would have occurred). This in itself can cause breast cancer.

Also, squishing the breast tissue in the machine can cause cancer cells (if present) to become dislodged and travel throughout the rest of the body, causing cancer to occur anywhere in the body. Refuse the mammogram! Demand ONLY an ultrasound screening (which is the next step in breast cancer screening if they think they see something on a mammogram anyway), OR, thermography is also another diagnostic alternative for breast cancer screening.

I have a lot more that I can say on this subject but for the purposes of this post, I'll leave it here. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, PM me, text me, call me, whatever - just stop getting mammograms, ladies!!
