On the last day of September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, we are honoring the life of Julia Passos, the niece of one of our TLC Group team members. Julia was diagnosed at the young age of 12 with Glioblastoma, a terminal brain cancer.

Through her family's journey, they encountered many families going through terrible circumstances.. A child diagnosed with cancer and a parent or family member taking a leave of absence from work to care for the child, often causing financial difficulties was a common situation the family witnessed.

Julia wanted to find a way to better support these families experiencing emotional and financial struggles. Julia lost her battle to Glioblastoma in January 2016. She was only fourteen years old, a bright shining star dimmed too soon. Her family has continued on her legacy, creating Julia's Star Foundation in April 2016.

"We decided to continue Julia’s legacy by helping other families affected by childhood cancer. Our family and friends rallied for us while we were fighting this beast. It is time for us to rally together and help other families going through this as well."
