Keep Gastonia Beautiful, Highland Art Park and the Gastonia EbonyFest Juneteenth committee are excited to welcome REGISTERED teens to a powerful, hands-on experience celebrating community, history, creativity, and growth! We look forward to learning, growing, and celebrating together in our community space the garden!
We will first visit the Aunt Charlotte McClee Community Garden to learn about the legacy of Aunt Charlotte McClee, explore how young people can help grow and strengthen their communities, and participate in an Underground Railroad-inspired craft activity. The program will conclude with a short walk to Highland Art Park, where participants will learn about Gastoniaβs three Black mayors and the lasting impact they made in creating positive change throughout our city.
This free event welcomes all youth and families to come learn, reflect, and celebrate together.
For the safety and support of all participants, a parent, guardian, or youth leader is required to attend alongside their teen for the duration of the event.
