Hey loves, if you’re feeling severely dis-regulated with everything surfacing in the larger arena or in your personal experience, there’s a breath practice I’d love to share that was life-changing for me in the wake of Helene when I needed to get back in my body enough to focus on the tasks in front of me, or settle my system enough to get good rest.
It starts with a deep belly/pelvic inhale, slight hold at the top, then a two-part exhale. Part 1 of the exhale is a gust out the mouth with sound til about 70% empty, then the final Part 2 of the exhale is a sharply expelled breath with pursed lips like you’re blowing out a candle. Slight hold at the bottom of the exhale.
It works best with a slight spinal undulation where you curl in on the exhale looking in toward your belly button, then expand up on the inhale with your heart shining forward.
I highly highly recommend taking a few moments to sit with this breath, especially when you feel adrenaline surge or overwhelm take over. It can help clear the backlog of emotions and settle the nervous system, so that you can be more present with where you are now and what’s needed in the moment.
Thanks to Rob Kancler for teaching this breath, absolute game-changer.
With you, beloveds. We are the storm.
