My brother was born severely disabled, and needed many transfusions, without them he would have passed away sooner than he did. I realized, about two years ago, the power that we all hold and decided I wanted to share it. I made that choice because there was no doubt another child out there who depended upon transfusions."

"I was diagnosed with breast cancer in my left breast. Within two weeks, it grew to 10 centimeters.

I had a bilateral mastectomy. They also removed 10 lymph nodes.

During my surgery, I received reconstruction, and within two weeks, my body rejected the implants and my body went septic.

I had emergency surgery to remove them. During my surgery, I lost a dramatic amount of blood.

I was told, “If you live 72 hours, we will have blood available.”

I was devastated and scared. But I was blessed with blood at 48 hours. And I lived!

I had to wait one year before I could donate blood, but I donate regularly now to save someone else’s life"

"Kathy has a positive attitude…just like her blood type.

During the 1990s she started giving blood and platelets in Jacksonville to help others. She became a multi-gallon donor and participated in annual breast cancer fundraising walks.

After years of paying it forward, Kathy found herself on the receiving end of blood donations.

In 2013, Kathy was diagnosed with breast cancer and had surgery to have the cancer removed.

Her doctors ordered a post-surgery treatment regimen of chemotherapy followed by 12 weeks of radiation therapy.

Due to the effects of the treatments, Kathy required multiple transfusions of platelets to prevent bleeding in her tissues.

After recovery, Kathy was disappointed when she was told she we would have to wait a year before she could donate blood again.

As soon as she became eligible, she once again shared her power to save lives.

She continues to donate regularly, giving second chances, just like the one she received, to other patients."

“I was dying.”

In 2008 after Amber had given birth to her youngest child, she needed two units of blood to save her life. There was a moment in the hospital when it was uncertain whether Amber or her baby would survive.

Thanks to her donors, Amber recovered and is continuing to love her life as a mom, wife, and caretaker to her animals. She is forever grateful for her donors and will never forget their generosity. 🫶
