🌿 Monday Herb Spotlight: Elder

As winter storms move through and temperatures plunge, we turn to Elder—one of the great guardian plants of the hedgerow. Elder has long been respected as a protector during times of transition, illness, and deep seasonal change.

On our land, Elder grows abundantly. Its berries were gathered and dried in warmer months to use in colder months for immune boosting teas. We still have tincture made years ago—medicine prepared in advance for moments just like this.

Elder reminds us that true resilience comes from relationship, preparation, and respect for the cycles of the land.

Winter storms remind us that the farm rests, but the medicine doesn’t stop. What was grown, gathered, and dried during warmer months becomes nourishment now.

We set up at The Wynne Bldg Antique Alley in Gate City VA in booth #21! We're sharing the space with a friend. You'll see her beautiful artwork soon. What's happening with The Herb Peddler?!
For the month of December we will be set up at the Big Stone Gap Farmer's Market on Saturdays - Open at 5 PM till 9 PM. Need unique gifts? We gotcha! Need a boost for the flu and cold season? We gotcha! We know you need goats milk soap so come getcha some!
Always you can come by our farm Horse-n-Bear Ranch in Fort Blackmore to pick up anything you need 😉 We'll when bring to you within a reasonable meet-up 😉

No Kingsport Farmers Market for us this morning. We have 3 does that kidded this week, 3 baby doelings ❤️ One doe was having trouble delivering the afterbirth, and finally did this morning. Vet said she should be fine but need to watch her for infection a few days. We'll be setting up at the Big Stone Gap Farmers Market each Saturday in December so you can catch us there or here at Horse-n-Bear Ranch

Herb Peddler Friends, we'll be at Weber City Flea Market/Farmer's Market tomorrow (Wed). We have our usual outstanding goats milk products and herbal products. And ::drum roll:: we have been busy expanding our Apothecary Sweets! We have a few new tasty treats! We've taken Cocoa Java Mint to a whole new level 😋 And my oh my oh my I believe we have out done ourselves. Actually Tim gets the credit since he made it 😊 Come getcha some!
