Gliding Stars of NEO Gliding Stars of NEO is an adaptive ice skating program for individuals with disabilities. Weekly skate practices with end of the year ice show.

Melinda Arnost and Rachel Wymer are the co-coordinators of the newest chapter of Gliding Stars in Northeast Ohio! Both Melinda and Rachel volunteered for this successful and life-changing program while in college at the University of Findlay. Once returning to their hometowns in NEO, they decided to begin their own local chapter! We are a little over a month away from our TENTH (yes, it’s been 10 years since we started!!) season of Gliding Stars of Northeast Ohio, and we are excited to see old and new faces in 2026. 😎

Gliding Stars of NEO is a nonprofit adaptive ice skating program for individuals with unique abilities. We meet on Sundays from January 11th - April 19th from 12-1:30pm at Gilmour Ice Arena. Skaters will be paired with local volunteers and taught weekly ice skating lessons along with games, parachute fun and more! Skaters also put on an end of season show that is open to the community. ⛸️

We hope you will skate with us!

Gliding Stars crew and friends!!

We miss everyone so much and couldn’t wait until our season starts back up again, so we decided to host a Halloween open skate! We hope to see old and new faces (and some pretty cool costumes).

Hello Gliding Crew!

On May 19th, Jack, had a seizure in the classroom, and he's been in the hospital ever since.

His teaching assistant wanted to bring some light to a tough situation and raise support for Jack's family.

He is organizing a free community event: Jog for Jack! It's happening Saturday, June 14th from 10AM-1PM at Orlando Park in Wickliffe, Ohio!

For every lap completed around the park, $1 will be donated to Jack's family! He has been lucky enough to find some amazing local businesses that are matching the total lap count! So if we reach 100 laps, that's $100 from his assistant and $100 from each supporting business! Every step truly makes a difference.

You can walk, run, bike, skateboard, whatever gets you around the loop works! Bring the kids, their laps count as well.
One lap is about a third of a mile. This activity will help increase their endurance for our ice skating season. :)

If you're not up for the laps, no worries! Just come hang out and bring your positive energy! There'll be an awesome food truck, amazing live music, free cookies, great people, and everything we need for a feel-good Saturday morning!
