Some great things are happening in our community, both locally & in the kidney world!

💚A powerful moment of connection in Lampasas as a kidney donor and recipient meet face-to-face for the very first time.

Brandi Watkins, a living kidney donor, is meeting Michael Miller at AdventHealth Rollins Brook Hospital.

The two had never met in person before today, though they spoke by phone. Brandi says she felt called to donate after seeing Michael’s story on social media—motivated in part by her own experience losing her father to kidney failure when she was 11 years old.

Michael has been in kidney failure since December 2023, undergoing dialysis treatments and facing an uncertain future. Just recently, he received the news that a living donor had been found.

Now, that decision brings them together in person for the first time.

“I am grateful to have the chance to meet Brandi for giving me the gift of life,” Michael said.

As Michael prepares for transplant and recovery, his family is also asking for help with lodging, meals, and travel costs during the hospital stay and recovery period.

Final Edition of our newsletter! We have information on our physicians who specialize in treating those with kidney disease including our Medical Director, Dr. Zuberi, Nurse Practitioner Alecia Eads & Dr. Chaffer from Coryell clinic.
