Saturday was the perfect ending to a great 2025-2026 Coryell 4-H Gun Club season! It does not get any better - great weather and turnout, kids were engaged, parents helping out at all angles and topped it off with a wonderful hamburger cookout. So fun! We hope to see everyone return next year! Have a wonderful and safe summer!

Lily Nielsen took home the gold Saturday from the Mike Myers Memorial Match hosted by Burleson County 4-H. She swept all three of her events: Hunter Pistol Silhouette, Smallbore Pistol Silhouette, and Smallbore Pistol Bullseye. Hard work pays off. Congratulations, Lily!

I want to make some extra comments about this pic. About a month ago, I emailed several optics, gun, and ammunition manufacturers asking if they had any small items (decals, posters, pins, patches, etc.) that they would be willing to send to us to be used as attendance/door prizes to encourage meeting attendance. In less than two days, I received a simple email from Vortex Optics. “We would be happy to donate a package. What is you shipping address?” Within a few more days we received a package of two dozen decals and even a dozen beanies. I did note the email from Vortex Optics has a slogan “We got your back.” How true. Asides from a wide variety of great products (I personally have several), they are apparently very responsive to their customers. All of my future optics purchases will be Vortex Optics. Maybe yours should be too.

Our last meeting of the season drew record attendance. New officers were elected, Lily Nielsen gave a presentation on 4-H Shooting Sports: Pistol, and it was decided that next year's meeting and practice times will remain the same. Huge thanks for Vortex Optics for the swag donations! We had three lucky winners. See photos for more details.

Two of our club members, Lily Nielsen and Thomas Blackman, competed at the Spring Fever Match hosted by Burleson County 4H. Lily placed first in both smallbore pistol and hunter pistol silhouette competitions. Thomas placed 3rd in light rifle and 8th in smallbore silhouette rifle. Congrats to you both!

Our monthly meeting had great involvement from our club members. Assistance Club Manager and Rifle Coach, Travis Van Bibber, hosted a program on eye dominance. This is always a great practice to have each member demonstrate. Grady won the raffle and is the proud owner of a new ammunition poster and Club Manager and Coach Hugh Nielsen brought his homemade jerky to share with the group. We will have our last meeting of the season in April so please try to join us as we will discuss and vote for next year's practice and meeting days/times and vote for next year's officers. Contact us if you have questions regarding club officer elections.
