The Smoky Mountains... what a mystical treat!

Our first 11-mile hike was up the cloudy peak of Mount LeConte near Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

We started this trek in the misty darkness along a river, climbed the mountain through the "smoky" clouds, and made our way out of the trees to feast our eyes over the stunning landscape and cool breeze of the Smoky Mountain National Park.

Once we reached the top, we sat for lunch at the Mount LeConte Lodge (a lodge at the top of the peak where you can stay... but the only way to get there is to HIKE!).

Embrace every moment. Take a moment. Close your eyes. Breathe.


Embracing every moment is the quickest way to absolute gratitude. Have you noticed how dogs are equally excited every time you walk through the door, throw the ball, give them a treat, or tell them you love them?


Imagine if you could channel that energy into your everyday life. Imagine if you could appreciate every moment that you were in whether that be stuck in traffic, kissing your loved one, a stranger saying “hello”, or a colleague bringing you your mail. Imagine how not only YOU would feel, but those interacting in that moment as well.


Be the light you wish to see.

To be grateful to be alive. What a treat.


Rise with the sun and give thanks to the day.


Every morning I list out a minimum of 10 things I am grateful for.
I am grateful for:
1. Hot coffee
2. My new home by the ocean
3. My mobility
4. Kali Bear 🐶
5. My business and clients
6. Financial abundance
7. My love for health & fitness
8. Sunrises & .a.s.s_fitness
9. The ocean breeze
10. Freckles


Don’t be afraid to list off your desires as current gratitude! I wrote “I am grateful for bathing with the elephants” for over a year... and as some of you know, I spent 3 weeks in Thailand this year.. bathing with elephants. This life is YOURS to create!

I still remember the first time someone told me I needed to go on a diet. I was about four years old. Hanging out in a hotel bedroom with my siblings, we put on our coats and as we were heading out for the day, my stepmom stopped me and said I really needed to start cutting back on my food intake. I can still hear her saying, “Just start with cutting back on your carbs. Stop eating bread.” Four. Years. Old.


Lord have mercy on her soul if she could see how much bread I eat in a day now.

And that’s when it all began: the judgment on my very small child body. Comparing myself to older girls, celebrities, my peers. I spent the next 20 years restricting, binging, hating my body, hiding behind a mousey exterior, when deep down I just wanted to lead, dance, dress my body as I desired, and capture my confidence.


I am grateful though. For now I am able to understand how others feel. I am able to serve, to help, to teach.
