This is a huge win for Legacy Park, Gautier, Jackson County, and all of Mississippi!!
Today, we’re proud to share that Legacy Park has officially won the appeal brought by Singing River Hospital in an attempt to block our ambulatory surgery center through the Certificate of Need (CON) process. The chancery court sided with progress, competition, and patient choice.
This is more than just a legal win — it’s a win for economic freedom on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
CON laws were originally created to prevent duplication of healthcare services, but in reality, they’ve become tools for protecting monopolies and stifling innovation. They allow entrenched players to challenge new competitors — not based on quality or community need, but on control.
We believe in lower costs, better access, and the right of patients and providers to choose what works best without government-sanctioned gatekeeping.
Legacy Park is committed to bringing top-tier, affordable, and accessible healthcare to our community. This ruling affirms what we already knew: the future belongs to those willing to build it.
It’s time Mississippi reconsiders outdated CON laws and embraces the kind of open market that fuels economic growth and better care for all.
Let’s keep pushing forward. 💪🏽
