Just one of the MANY reasons we choose to use attended Class IV Laser over other Lasers.
We are the only Attended Class IV Laser in the Area and have been doing Class IV Therapy longer than anyone in the State.

The First Law of Photochemistry, the Grotthus-Draper Law states: "Only that light which is absorbed by a system can bring about a photochemical change." In other words, in order to undergo photobiomodulation, chromophores must absorb photons of light.

See the picture. The figure at left represents treatment with a class 3B laser, and a class 4 on the right. In the same 5 minutes of treatment time, the 3B laser gives 150 joules, and the class 4 laser 1500 joules. If the desired surface dosage is 5 J/cm2, then the 3B can only treat 30 square centimeters and the 4 can treat 300 square centimeters.

The areas shaded with red are being treated, are absorbing photons, and are undergoing photobiomodulation. If the pathology is directly under the three little red dots for the 3B treatment, then the patient may be helped. However, it's likely that all of the tissues in the shoulder (in this example) are affected. The entire 300 cm2 area is absorbing photons from the class 4 therapy laser.

What does a vertebral subluxation feel like? 🤔

Sometimes it’s obvious.
Sometimes you don’t feel it at all.

It can show up as:
• Neck or back stiffness 😣
• Headaches 🤕
• Tight shoulders or hips
• Low energy or brain fog 🧠
• Pain that comes and goes

Here’s the thing 👇
Not all spinal problems cause pain right away.

A VERTEBRAL SUBLUXATION can affect how your nervous system works before symptoms ever start.

When should you see a chiropractor?
• When you’re in pain
• When something feels off
• After workouts, injuries, or stress 💪
• Or before problems show up

Chiropractic isn’t just about pain relief.
It’s about keeping your spine and nervous system working the way they’re supposed to.

Your body works better when your spine does 🧠✨

Snow shoveling is a repetitive activity that can cause muscle strain to the lower back and shoulders. Back injuries due to snow shoveling are more likely to happen to people who may not know that they are out of condition.

Following these tips can help you avoid injuries:

1. Lift smaller loads of snow, rather than heavy shovelfuls. Be sure to take care to bend your knees and lift with your legs rather than your back.

2. Use a shovel with a shaft that lets you keep your back straight while lifting. A short shaft will cause you to bend more to lift the load. Using a shovel that’s too long makes the weight at the end heavier. Step in the direction in which you are throwing the snow to prevent the low back from twisting. This will help prevent “next-day back fatigue.”

3. Avoid excessive twisting because the spine cannot tolerate twisting as well as it can tolerate other movements. Bend your knees and keep your back as straight as possible so that you are lifting with your legs.

4. Take frequent breaks when shoveling. Stand up straight and walk around periodically to extend the lower back.

5. Backward bending exercises while standing will help reverse the excessive forward bending of shoveling: stand straight and tall, place your hands toward the back of your hips, and bend backwards slightly for several seconds.

6. If you or anyone you know is experiencing back pain, consult Dr. Lucas at HealthZone Chiropractic. 989-732-155

Although doctors of chiropractic treat more than just back pain, a large percentage of
Chiropractic patients visit their doctor looking for relief from this pervasive condition. In fact, 70 to 85 percent of all people have back pain at some time in their life. We encourage people to prevent this problem by seeking chiropractic care!

A few interesting facts regarding back pain:
• Low back pain is the fifth most common reason for all physician visits in the United States.

• Back pain is the most frequent cause of activity limitation in people younger than 45 years old.

• Most cases of back pain are mechanical or non-organic—meaning they are not caused by serious conditions, such as inflammatory arthritis, infection, fracture or cancer.

• Approximately one quarter of U.S. adults reported having low back pain lasting at least one whole day in the past three months2, and 7.6 percent reported at least one episode of severe acute low back pain within a one-year period.

• Low back pain is also very costly: approximately 5 percent of people with back pain disability account for 75 percent of the costs associated with low back pain.

• One-half of all working Americans admit to having back pain symptoms each year.

• Approximately 2 percent of the U.S. work force is compensated for back injuries each year.

• _ Americans spend at least $50 Billion per year on back pain—and that’s just for the more easily identified costs.
