🌻 We’re Hiring: Counselor 🌻

NMSAS is growing, and so is our vision. We’re moving from being known as just a clinic to becoming a true Recovery Center - a place where whole-person healing, multiple pathways, and community connection come together.

We’re looking for a counselor who shares this vision and wants to be part of building something bigger than a program - a movement. Someone who believes in recovery, in people, and in the power of community to transform lives.

If you’re passionate about walking alongside individuals on their journey, helping them heal, and joining a team that’s shaping the future of recovery in Northern Michigan, we’d love to hear from you.

👉 Email ddunn@nmsas.org today for more information about how you can bring your heart, your skills, and your vision for recovery to NMSAS. Together, we’re more than a clinic - we’re a Recovery Center.

After 30+ years of serving those in recovery, this therapist says:

"I have met and worked with probably a thousand people either directly or indirectly. My favorite population has always been those who struggle with substance misuse and the intricacies of that diagnosis. What has always brought me significant joy and satisfaction in my work is the stories of those I serve. Daily I am honored and humbled to be a part of someone’s recovery no matter what that looks like for them or where they are at in the “process.” The trust they put in me is never taken for granted. I am amazed at those who have experienced the most horrific things that a human could ever imagine, yet come out on the other side stronger, grateful, compassionate, and oftentimes sober! I am taught daily about the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity and deep, unfathomable pain. By being placed in a position of such trust my “folks” are who keep me mindful and grateful. I am fulfilled with hope and encouragement. Their stories and the honor of walking beside them on their recovery journey is why I show up."

Our former Peer Support Coordinator is the new Executive Director of NMSAS Recovery Center :)

🌻✨ Big News from NMSAS Recovery Center ✨🌻

We are excited to announce that the NMSAS Board of Directors has officially named Tobias Neal as our new Executive Director.

Over the past 90 days, Tobias has served as Interim Executive Director and, together with our staff, has strengthened operations, clarified roles, and begun shaping a bold vision for the future of recovery in Northern Michigan.

The Board’s decision reflects the teamwork, leadership, and direction Tobias has established with our staff - a shared vision of NMSAS not just as a clinic, but as a movement. A movement that embraces whole-person recovery, expands pathways of care, and grows hope across the 21 counties we serve.

Please join us in congratulating Tobias on this well-deserved appointment. We look forward to this next chapter as we continue to walk alongside individuals, families, and communities on their recovery journey.

Another NMSAS team member reminds us that recovery is about hope, persistence, and community. Together, we make each other’s light shine brighter.

"Someone shared with me recently that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, There is HOPE in recovery and their futures. It's HARD to Live a normal life without seeking to use. They have to choose the right things to do daily and have people that are supportive in your journey of recovery. As for me up being in the front i can see a lot of people growing and doing great stuff. So I'm cheering them on in the back row trying to make their light shine a little BRIGHTER." đź’ś

Our former Peer Support Coordinator and current NMSAS interim Director Tobias Neal did a breakout session at this year's MiPeer Conference in Novi, Michigan. Did you attend this conference? This breakout session? Say hi below!

What an incredible moment at the MiPeers Conference today!

Our very own Director of Peer Support Services, Tobias Neal, led a powerful breakout session that was standing room only, full of life, love, and genuine connection.

This wasn’t just a presentation, it was a shared experience. Attendees brought their full selves into the room, and what unfolded was honest, healing, and deeply human.

We’re so proud of the impact our team is having, not just in Northern Michigan, but across the state.

Thank you to everyone who showed up and shared the space.
