The Holistic Spa opened its doors on September 5, 2017, with a mission to provide alternative health services and educational workshops on healthy living to the Ga***rd community. Our goal has always been to enlighten our clients about the benefits and successes of alternative therapies, helping them establish achievable wellness goals and supporting them on their journeys toward healthier, happier lives. We believe that healing encompasses the mind, body, and soul, and that balance among these elements is essential for overall well-being.

This year, our owner, Linda Durant, has faced profound personal loss that has disrupted her sense of balance. This shift has inevitably impacted the spa and its operations. Acknowledging her struggles with daily activities and a waning passion for her work, Linda realized it was time for a change. Through reflection and meditation, she came to the powerful decision to step back from the spa to focus on her personal healing journey. Remarkably, within two weeks, the universe responded affirmatively, presenting her with the opportunity to pass on the spa to a deserving group of women who will continue our mission of alternative health.

We are thrilled to announce that Kelli Weismiller will be opening Encompass Health 45 at the Holistic Spa location starting December 1st! Kelli brings a wealth of experience from her work with Wellness on Main and Sacs Wellness Center where she specialized in alternative health services as a certified Nutritional Therapeutic Practioner (NPT), Integrative Health Practioner (IHP1 and IHP2), and Nutritional Response Testing (NRP). She will be offering nutritional services, and she will be joined by Michelle, who will provide Emotion Coding, Jenilee, who will offer Life Coaching, and Hailey, who is a Board Certified Health Coach.

To our loyal clients, rest assured that your favorite practitioners will still be available! You can continue to receive massage and myofascial services from Linda Durant, acupuncture from Dr. Princess Benson, and Reiki from Felicia Grey. We view this as a beautiful blending of two cherished local wellness centers under the guidance of Kelli Weismiller, infusing new light and love into our beloved space.

For now, you can continue to book any of the Holistic Spa services through our website or by calling us directly. Gift certificates for Holistic Spa services will still be honored. We will keep you updated with any changes as we navigate this transition. Thank you for your patience, support, and understanding during this time.

With heartfelt gratitude,
The Holistic Spa.

Today we celebrate World Hypertension Day to bring awareness to the importance of monitoring your blood pressure.

DID YOU KNOW…

Hypertension is the #1 risk factor for heart disease, stroke, renal complications, and premature death.
It is a known fact that massage improves circulation and blood flow. What most people don’t know is that one of the greatest benefits of massage therapy is that massage can positively affect hypertension or high blood pressure by lowering it.
When the body is under stress, the adrenal glands in your kidneys produce an abundance of the stress hormone called Cortisol. Once the stressor has disappeared, the body goes into repair mode and begins to secrete endorphins, the body’s natural pain relievers and antidote to Cortisol. It also causes the blood to coagulate or clot so that in the event the stressor was actually something that caused harm, you would not bleed to death. The ironic thing is that the very survival mechanism that we are born with for survival of life threatening dangers does not differentiate from work stress or real threats.
This is where the magic of massage comes into play. Remember those endorphins? After only 20 minutes of massage, the body begins to release those endorphins that relax the blood vessels, reduce the intensity of the heart pumping and shuts down the adrenals from producing more Cortisol. The blood flow is temporarily increased, carrying oxygen and nutrient-rich blood cells to aid in healing the body. It also helps release stagnant by-products and congestion of tissues from injuries or lack of circulation. Massage reduces the wear and tear on your body and mind. It can also help keep muscle from cramping while also preserving organ function and maintaining healthy skin. With so many benefits, it makes sense to include massage as part of your overall health plan. Do your body a favor by giving your heart a “squeeze” and schedule your regular massage!
