Dr. Heden and Judy were able to visit the first Geneseo Current Senior Expo at the Geneseo Community Center on Friday. We had lots of good questions and interest in eye care. Thanks to the Current for putting it together, all the vendors and attendees!

Thanks to Dr. Heden, Dr. Rizzo (podiatrist) and Marcia Wirth (dietitian) who gave wonderful presentations last night about diabetes, in honor of National Diabetes Awareness Month. We had a great audience in attendance who learned a lot about how it can affect the eyes, feet/body, and got help in planning what to eat with the holidays approaching! Thanks also to Hammond Henry Hospital for organizing and hosting the event.

Phishing Email Alert
We received a few phone calls this morning saying that they received an email that indicates Eye Surgeons Associates has a statement for them to review and to click on the link. We do not email patient statements. All statements are physically sent via mail through the post office. Do not click on the link in the email.

We investigated and determined the email is not coming from ESA. There has been no data breach. This is similar to other phishing emails you may have received from UPS, USPS, various banks etc. being sent randomly hoping to catch you.

Here are a couple of tips to help you identify fakes and remember to contact the company directly if you have any questions about authenticity:
• Pay attention to the address bar. To be on the safe side, make sure the website starts with https:// before entering any personal information.
• Check the domain name. Make sure that the website that you are on is correctly spelled and not mimicking a well-known brand or company.
• Watch for poor grammar and spelling. An excess of spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar mistakes can indicate that the website was put together fairly quickly with no regard for professionalism.
• Look for reliable contact information. If you can find another way to contact the brand or company, reach out to them to confirm the email is real.
