Schuyler County Coalition on Underage Drinking and Drugs (SCCUDD) and Schuyler County Public Health are partnering for NASCAR weekend on a Sticker Shock campaign to raise awareness about the consequences adults face if they provide alcohol to youth.
“The Sticker Shock campaign sticker was designed by a local teen Oriana Crosby-Smith,” said Schuyler County Public Health Director Jill Kasprzyk. “The sticker and the campaign help to raise awareness of the laws surrounding underage drinking and the dangers of youth drinking. Earlier this year, the U.S. government released updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans with new guidance on alcohol use. In past years, the U.S. defined low-risk drinking as up to one drink per day for women and up to two drinks per day for men, if they chose to drink alcohol. The new guidelines removed these daily limits. Without a defined “limit,” it can be hard to know how much alcohol is too much.
Here’s what families should know: The main recommendation is to "consume less alcohol for better health." Alcohol is not risk-free — drinking can increase the likelihood of cancer, liver disease, heart problems, and injuries or accidents. If you or a family member chooses to drink, it’s important to:
Recognize that any amount of alcohol carries some level of risk.
Store alcohol securely to help prevent underage access.
Speak with a healthcare provider if you have questions about alcohol and your health.

Today is Fentanyl Awareness Day!
You are invited to attend The New Drug Landscape: A Conversation with Parents Who've Been There
Wednesday, April 29, 2026, 3:00pm EST
The drug landscape has shifted—and the conversation around prevention needs to shift with it. Fentanyl remains a serious threat, but new substances are entering the supply, the relationship between mental health and drug use is coming into sharper focus, and the old "just say no" approach has never been less useful.

In this candid, unscripted conversation, three parents who have experienced the worst—and dedicated themselves to making sure other families don't—talk openly about what's changed, what's coming, and where prevention goes from here.

Register here:
