If you are looking to get in shape, improve your fitness level, or simply enjoy the many benefits of working out, then low-impact exercise may be just the thing for you. Low-impact exercise is when movement occurs in your body without the slamming, jumping, and jarring that occurs with other, more intense forms of exercise. Walking, swimming, yoga, and cycling are all examples of low-impact exercise. 🏊

Getting a shingles vaccine can offer you more than just protection from the illness. Recent research from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand reveals that getting the shingles shot can actually lower your risk of experiencing a stroke or heart attack due to the virus.

This discovery came after studying the health of almost 280,000 participants, mainly aged 70 and above, who got vaccinated against shingles. The researchers found that those who received the shingles vaccine had a reduced chance of suffering a heart attack or stroke caused by the virus, compared to those who didn't get the vaccine.

While we're not entirely sure why shingles could lead to heart attacks and strokes, inflammation may play a role. Experts believe that the shingles vaccine is an important tool to help protect older adults' health.

A new study shows that postmenopausal women who consume prunes have a decreased risk for bone loss associated with osteoporosis.
This is due to the high levels of Vitamin K, potassium, and anti-inflammatories in prunes that are good for bone health.

Ten million Americans age 50 and older have osteoporosis, but women are 4 times more likely to develop the condition.

Skin tags are common, harmless growths affecting almost half of all Americans. They will eventually fall off on their own but people may want them removed for cosmetic reasons. It may be tempting to try to remove the pesky growth at home, but it could lead to a serious infection.

Pumpkin spice season is here. But if you want to focus on eating whole fruits and vegetables, a diet rich in seasonal fall produce can support heart health.

Fruits and vegetables are packed with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants that can protect the cardiovascular system. You really can't go wrong with any produce that you pick in the Fall because they all have their own benefits for heart health.

Keep an eye out for these 9 produce picks when you're at the grocery store during the fall season:

🎃 Pumpkin: This squash is for more than just lattes and pies. Try adding canned pumpkin to your favorite chili recipe for a velvety rich texture, a fun festive color, and a potassium boost.

🍎 Apples: They're full of fiber and polyphenols, compounds in certain fruits and vegetables that are known to support heart health.

❤️ Pomegranate: like apples, pomegranates are rich in heart-healthy polyphenols, which give the fruit its rich color.

💜 Beets: They're a good source of nitrates, and some research suggests that beetroot juice can help control blood pressure.

🥬 Kale: and other leafy greens also contain nitrates that are good for your heart. This superfood can be used in salads or mixed with turkey to make a filling for stuffed spaghetti squash.

🥫 Cranberries: Cranberries don't just protect against UTIs, but they also contain polyphenols that can support heart health.

🥬 Brussels Sprouts: are cruciferous vegetables, which are rich in vitamins, minerals, and fibers but low in calories. Some preliminary research has suggested that these vegetables may protect against vascular calcification, a build-up of minerals in blood vessels that can lead to blood clots and stroke.

🍠 Sweet Potatoes: Like pumpkins, are a good source of fiber and beta-carotene, which is associated with a reduced risk of heart disease and stroke.
