Are you running the Chicago Marathon this weekend or a Turkey Trot later this year? This is Elizabeth Rodgers, PT, DPT, OCS, a physical therapist here at Duly Health and Care, and she's taking you through some pre-run warm-up stretches to help keep you injury-free during your runs.
Inch Worm Walk Out - Walk out into a high plank and twist each arm to the sky to warm up your body.
Dynamic Knee to Chest - As you move forward, bring each knee to your chest, allowing your muscles to move through their full range of motion.
Dynamic Heel to Buttock - Bring your heel towards your buttock, feeling a nice stretch in the front of your thigh, while moving through the full range of motion.
Dynamic Hamstring Kick Out - Kick your leg out and reach for the opposite toes, feeling a stretch along your hamstrings, warming them up before your run.
Don't forget to cool down after your run, too! If you experience any pain along the way, be sure to reach out to a Duly physical therapist near you: https://bit.ly/3YzEy96
