⚠️ Taking magnesium but still feel tired, crampy, or restless at night?
You might be using the wrong form for YOUR body.

Magnesium is involved in over 1000 processes in the body—but not all forms are created equal. Some energize, some relax, some just… don’t absorb well at all.

🎯 In this new post, I break down:
✅ Signs you’re taking the wrong magnesium
✅ The best forms for brain, body, and belly
✅ What to do if your supplement isn’t working
✅ Tips to troubleshoot and fine-tune your routine

Supplements help, but diet, stress, and timing matter too. Let’s simplify the confusion so your magnesium actually works.

Managing Stress is Key to Having Optimal Magnesium Levels

Stress is an inevitable part of life—but did you know it directly impacts your magnesium levels?

📉 Chronic stress depletes magnesium
📈 Low magnesium makes your body more vulnerable to stress

This creates a vicious cycle—and with up to 68% of Americans already deficient, magnesium balance is more important than ever. It’s not just about taking any supplement; it’s about choosing the right one to help your body stay resilient and well.

Here are a few ways to support stress + magnesium balance naturally:

🧘‍♂️ Practice Mindfulness
Meditation, yoga, and breathwork help calm the nervous system.

🏃 Exercise Regularly
Movement releases endorphins and improves magnesium efficiency.

😴 Prioritize Sleep
Magnesium supports deeper, more restorative sleep.

🥬 Eat Magnesium-Rich Foods
Think leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and more whole and less ultra processed foods.

💊 Choose the Right Magnesium Supplement
Magnesium bisglycinate is one of the best all around choices—it’s highly absorbable, gentle on the stomach, and supports stress reduction, relaxation, and sleep. Perfect for Type A personalities and those running on adrenaline.

👉 TIP: Try 200–300mg of magnesium bisglycinate about 30–60 minutes before bed to help you wind down and sleep better.

Magnesium: The Missing Link in Health & Performance

Did you know that it is estimated that 75% of people are deficient in magnesium—a mineral responsible for more than 1,000 biochemical reactions in the body? In my latest conversation on the Health Is A Skill podcast with Todd Vande Hei, we unpacked why magnesium is essential for:

✅ Energy production & muscle recovery
✅ Blood pressure & cardiovascular health
✅ Sleep quality & stress resilience
✅ Nervous system balance & anxiety management

We also covered:
🔹 How modern diets and stress contribute to magnesium depletion
🔹 The best (and worst) forms of magnesium supplements
🔹 Why gut health impacts magnesium absorption
🔹 How medications can deplete magnesium—and why replenishing it is key
🔹 Why Type A personalities—the go-getters always on the move—burn through magnesium faster and may need more to keep stress, sleep, and energy in check

I went fast in this episode and packed a ton of information into 30 minutes on the benefits of magnesium. If you’re looking for a quick reference on magnesium, take a listen!

As cold season kicks in, supporting your immune system is key. I'm getting asked lots of questions on products to take, and here is my current protocol to remain immune resilient this season. Here is the breakdown below..

📲 Watch the full immune breakdown on YouTube! DM me “immune” for the video!

🦠 ViraMedica – Clears Zombie Cells+ Promotes immune resilient acutely.

Senescent (zombie) cells weaken immunity by releasing inflammation. ViraMedica includes:
✔️ Fisetin & Quercetin – Potent senolytics and antioxidants which can helpremove zombie cells.
✔️ Luteolin & Ginger – Reduce oxidative stress & boost recovery.
📖 Nature immune enhancers found in senolytics aid in viral clearance & immune function.

🍂 Seasonal Shield – Allergy & General Immune Support

Th1/Th2 imbalance from allergies weakens defenses. This formula includes:
✔️ Quercetin & Bromelain – Reduce histamine & inflammation.
✔️ Boswellia & Zinc – Strengthen immune response.
📖 Study: Boswellia & bromelain reduced allergy symptoms by 73%—30% better than common antihistamines!

💧 Liposomal C – Supercharged Vitamin C

Standard vitamin C isn’t well absorbed. Liposomal tech:
✔️ Boosts bioavailability by oral forms of vitamin C significantly (Nutrients study).
✔️ Provides sustained immune support—perfect for cold season.

☀️ Vitamin D10,000 + K2 – Winter Essential

Low D3 = higher infection risk. This formula ensures:
✔️ K2 directs calcium properly to prevent issues.
📖 JAMA found good D3 levels lowered respiratory infection risk by 42%.

I take a higher dose of D3 (10,000 daily) in winter months between November-March then switch to maintenance dose of 5,000iu+K2 based on my lab values.

Stay ahead this season! Watch my full video on YouTube, or DM me “immune” for the link! 💪 Please let me know any questions you might have!

💡 Creatine: Not Just for the Gym—It’s Brain Fuel, Too! 🧠

New research shows creatine can boost brain performance during sleep-deprived states, improving memory, focus, and cognitive tasks.

🔍 Here’s what the study found:
✔️ A high dose (0.35g/kg) reversed fatigue-related cognitive decline for up to 9 hours.
✔️ Maximum effects occurred 4 hours after dosing.
✔️ It supports brain energy needs under stress.

Who might benefit?
• Parents navigating sleepless nights with kids.
• First responders with unpredictable shifts.
• Anyone recovering from a restless night but still needing to function the next day.

⚠️ Personal Take:
The study used very high doses (I.e. 35g for a 220lb person), but I’d recommend a more moderate 0.15–0.20g/kg dose for more “practical use” for when the occasion arises, this would be around 3–4 (5gram) scoops for a 220lb person. While sleep remains the best medicine, creatine shows promise as a “break glass in case of emergency” tool for cognitive support during sleep deprivation.

Excited to see where this research goes next! And for more information check out the new blog post at FredricksonShop.com

Here is a study I love sharing.

A meta-analysis of forty prospective cohort studies with more than 1 million participants showed that individuals who consumed higher amounts of dietary magnesium (100mg increments) were associated with a 22% reduction in the risk of heart failure and a 7% reduction in the risk of stroke.
A dose-response analysis revealed that the higher (100 mg increments) dietary magnesium intake groups were associated with a 10% lower risk of all-cause mortality.

Just by increasing dietary intake of Magnesium, individuals saw major improvements in cardiovascular risk!

Many people ask what form of magnesium is best for xyz, and I love sharing information on the different forms.
HOWEVER, it's more than just supplements, and you must understand what depletes you, the signs of Mag deficiency, foods, water, and best supplements to replenish you so you can stay Magnesium balanced for life.

Vitamin D, known as the “sunshine vitamin,” plays a crucial role in athletic performance and overall health. Up to 80% of the world’s population may be deficient in vitamin D due to limited sun exposure and dietary intake, which can significantly impact athletes who spend much time indoors or training during non-peak sunlight hours. Many athletes who practice outside may think they get enough Vitamin D, but a study was done on New York Giant Football players, showed that 81% were still deficient even during spring practice.

Key Benefits for Athletes:

1. Bone Health: Vitamin D facilitates calcium absorption, promoting stronger bones and reducing the risk of stress fractures, a common injury in athletes .
2. Muscle Function: It supports muscle health and strength. Adequate levels of vitamin D have been linked to improved muscle function, including increased muscle protein and type II muscle fibers, which are essential for power and performance .
3. Immune Support: Vitamin D boosts the immune system, reducing the risk of infections and minimizing training downtime due to illness .
4. Inflammation and Recovery: It helps regulate inflammation, potentially speeding up recovery from injuries and reducing muscle soreness .

Sources and Supplementation:

Athletes can obtain vitamin D through sun exposure, diet (e.g., fatty fish, fortified foods), and supplements. The recommended daily intake varies, but many experts suggest that athletes might need more than the general population to maintain optimal performance levels. Consulting with a healthcare provider for personalized advice and blood testing is recommended to determine specific needs .

By maintaining adequate vitamin D levels, athletes can enhance their performance, reduce injury risks, and support overall health. For those struggling to get enough from sunlight and diet alone, supplements are a practical option to ensure they meet their daily requirements. If you are unsure on what your vitamin D level is, and would like to get tested, send us a message!
