✨ We are thrilled to celebrate Joan King as our esteemed Resident of the Month! ✨ Joan brings a wonderful spirit and warm presence to our community every day.
�Joan grew up in Dallas, Texas, and later attended TCU. After marrying, she devoted herself to her roles as wife and mother, calling it some of her happiest times. She shared many cherished memories, including her beautiful wedding, the exciting day she was able to officially welcome her adopted daughter, and her many wonderful cruises.
Joan enjoyed 62 happy years of marriage and raised an amazing daughter, Kristie, who remains a constant source of support and connection for the family. Joan fondly remembers her childhood as happy and full of love, thanks to her wonderful parents. One of her favorite travel adventures was cruising around the islands of Hawaii.
Since moving here, Joan has found that the best part of living at The Oscar is meeting all the friendly people. From residents to staff, she notes that everyone is helpful and welcoming. She cherishes having others close by to chat with.
Joan stays busy enjoying many of her favorite pastimes, including Bridge, Hand & Foot Canasta, Rummikub, Bingo, and playing cards.�Joan chose The Oscar for its overall feeling of openness, its wide, bright halls, the theater room, and the indoor pool.
When asked about the most important thing she has learned in life, Joan’s answer is simple and profound: “Always treat others with kindness, no matter what they say or do.”
And her best advice for anyone considering moving to a senior living community? It’s simple: “Get out and meet people! Participate in different activities to meet others.”
�When asked if she is happy, Joan simply smiled and said, “I’m happy all the time. I always try to be happy.” Her happiness shines brightest when she is playing games or visiting with friends!�Joan truly embodies the spirit of The Oscar with treating everyone with kindness!
