Meet Kenny. He’s one of millions of Americans who are about to face a major increase in health insurance costs – and most don’t even know it yet.

Enhanced Premium Tax Credits (EPTCs) are currently helping 24 million people – including our patients – afford high-quality healthcare coverage through the insurance Marketplace (https://bit.ly/4lx5ZcX). These tax credits are applied directly to people’s premiums, keeping coverage affordable and making healthcare more accessible. But unless Congress acts soon, these tax credits will expire at the end of 2025.

“When you get sick and you’re not rich, health insurance is absolutely essential. It doesn’t just make life easier, it makes life possible,” said Kenny. “Losing the healthcare tax credit would mean my monthly costs would go through the roof, and I wouldn’t be able to afford my treatments. I need Congress to extend the healthcare tax credit and give people in towns like mine a fighting chance.”

Without EPTCs, health insurance costs will skyrocket. Families may be forced to make heartbreaking choices – between keeping their health coverage or paying for food, rent and childcare. Learn how you can help protect access to care at https://bit.ly/4k8H7qF

Learn tips for stress management that can help your body's overall health!

Stress can cause a number of physical changes in the body. These shifts are your body's fight-or-flight response to danger — real or perceived. When your body continually repeats this stress response, it can lead to long-term physical and mental health conditions.

For example, chronic stress can cause nausea, stomach pain, constipation, indigestion and diarrhea. Stress even affects the brain long-term, leading to anxiety, depression and headaches, as well as problems with concentration and memory.

We can’t avoid stress, but we can learn how to manage it better. Take the first step with the American Heart Association's stress management resources: https://bit.ly/45faKTr

Sharing heart health tips to keep you healthy!
What is CTO? CTO, or Chronic Total Occlusion, is a complete or nearly complete blockage of blood flow. This reduction interferes with heart function and can damage the heart muscle itself. A heart attack may occur. Early detection and treatment are critical.

Risk Factors:
• Smoking
• History of coronary artery disease or heart attack
• Family history of cardiovascular disease
• High cholesterol
• Diabetes
• Obesity
• High blood pressure

Symptoms of CTO can occur at rest or during activity and may include:
• Chest discomfort, pain, pressure, or tightness
• Pain in the upper body or arm
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat
• Shortness of breath
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Fatigue

Austin Heart’s Dr. John Moscona has training and experience in treating CTO. Hear more from Dr. Moscona here: https://bit.ly/4i2TnZ9

❤️ It’s Heart Month! ❤️ Your Heart. Your Health.

It's not hard to believe, but a new study shows increased risks from sedentary lifestyle, particularly that cardiovascular risks increase for people who sit for more than 10.5 hours a day.

What can you do to help your heart? Dr. Joaquin Cigarroa, interventional cardiologist, talked to KXAN News about how small changes can make a big difference when it comes to heart health.

Activity and exercise, movement of any kind. “Just making bite-sized goals is essential for creating momentum for larger changes,” Dr. Cigarroa said. “And so I think setting realistic goals and not trying to bite off too much to chew. I think all in all, you’re setting yourself up for success. And so I think any sort of movement — whether it starts as two minutes or five minutes — I think is very beneficial for your overall health.”
