Welcome to iMyo: Orofacial Myology of Central Texas. We are a private practice, centered in the heart of Texas, that specializes in the diagnosis, treatment and management of Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders. Committed to providing patients with excellent care that is evidence-based, passionately delivered, and always thorough, I have been in healthcare since 2005 and take great pride in caring for my patients as if they were my own family.”
Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, I earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Texas Tech University in 2004. In 2007, I graduated with a second bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene Sciences from Texas A&M College of Dentistry. I have received my orofacial myofunctional training from both the International Association of Orofacial Myology, as well as the American Academy of Myofunctional Therapy. Today, I practice as a Registered Dental Hygienist in the state of Texas. I am currently the only Certified Orofacial Myofunctional therapist in Austin and surrounding areas. I specializes in pediatric craniofacial growth and development of the upper airway, utilizing orofacial myofucntional therapy, and Buteyko Breathing Methods. Currently, I am studying to become a board-certified lactation consultant, as well as writing my first book titled, “The Breath of Life.”
I began specializing in myofunctional therapy in 2015, after seeing a need for airway health for both my children. With limited access to care, I began learning about the importance of proper nasal breathing, restorative sleep, orofacial myofunctional therapy, and airway centric dentistry-medicine. I knew, as their mom, I would have to be their biggest advocate and try to improve the quality of their overall health. Today, I own and operate iMyo: Orofacial Myology of Central Texas, a small private practice in Georgetown, Texas that specializes in orofacial myofunctional therapy and breathing education. As a parent, I hope to empower other families with the same knowledge and tools that have allowed me to successfully treat my own children. As a therapist, I hope to provided comprehensive care through individualized treatment plans for patients of all ages, suffering from orofacial myofunctional disorders and dysfunctional breathing patterns.
I am passionate about education and prevention, the heart of every dental hygienist. However, my focus has always been on the treatment of the cause, rather than arresting symptoms. I wholeheartedly believe our ability to breathe, sleep, eat, speak, prevent disease, and maintain optimal health depends on a healthy airway. That is why I respect, and work in conjunction with local Sleep Specialist, Radiologist, Otolaryngologist, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Orthodontists, Dentist, Physical Therapist, Speech Pathologists, Lactation Consultants, and other skilled medical professionals in the Austin area to provide comprehensive care for my patients.
