Public memorials are also something we often do. This one utilized the existing sculpture into a new granite pedestal to memorialize the men of ARMCO who lost their life in WWI and WWII.

It’s that time of year when we are running out of good weather for foundations. Some cemeteries have stopped pouring for the year and started the list for spring. If it’s a cemetery that we pour, you still have a little bit of time to get orders in for Christmas installations.

Don’t forget, we offer in-home and cemetery appointments. This is a convenient option for families who can’t make it in to our office. We can bring everything necessary to you.

Celebrating 115 years of business in 2023! We thought this would be a good time to give some background on our business, which also happens to be, Brown County’s oldest family owned business.

People often ask why we aren’t in the center of town, in the usual business area, and that’s because of the railroad. We have been at the same location since the beginning. In 1908, the railroad depot was located where the apartments are now, next door. The granite blocks would come in on the rail and would be brought across the yard and into our building by rail carts. Lots of things have changed in the town since 1908, but our location, isn’t one of them!

In 1908, Edgar Kennedy established, The Georgetown Marble and Granite Company.

In 1936, Edgar’s son in law, Earl Heslar, joined the business and in 1947, he gained ownership.

In 1973, Earl’s son, James (Jim) Heslar, joined the business and acquired ownership in 1976.

In 2004, Jim’s son, Kelly Heslar, joined the business. In 2015, Kelly purchased the business from his father and became the fourth generation owner.

We have taken pride in what we do and hope to continue for many years to come. We thank you for allowing our family to serve your family’s memorial needs for the last 115 years!
