Richard “Rick” B. Myers, 86, of Pawleys Island, SC, passed away at his home on April 15, 2025.

Born in Akron, Ohio, Rick was the son of the late Richard and Katherine Myers. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharlene Payne Myers, and his son, Bradley Boyd Myers.

Rick was raised in Ohio and attended The College of Wooster before proudly serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. His career in the hospitality industry spanned more than four decades, with leadership roles in Cleveland, New Orleans, and Atlanta. He retired as Vice President of Sales for the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau, where he was widely respected for his warm demeanor and genuine desire to help others.

Rick and Sharlene raised their family in New Orleans and Roswell, Georgia. A doting father, he cherished time spent boating, fishing, and camping with his three children. In retirement, Rick and his beloved second wife, Sue, moved to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where he continued to give back—volunteering with Midway Fire Rescue, earning multiple commendations for his service, and later working at Pawleys Island Supplies, where he loved connecting with locals and visitors alike.

Camelia “Anne” Scott, 65, wife of Robert Charles Scott, passed away at her home in Georgetown, SC, on July 24, 2025.

Born April 13, 1960, in Tryon, NC, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Robert Joseph Howell, Sr. and the late Doris Jean O’Dell Howell. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Steven Howell.

When the Howell family moved from Tryon, they settled in Beaufort—a place that held a special place in Anne’s heart. She fondly remembered the seasons she spent playing basketball and cheerleading. She cherished her years there and took great pride in serving the Beaufort Water Festival as a goodwill ambassador for the Pirettes, a role she embraced with joy and enthusiasm.

After leaving Beaufort during her junior year of high school, Anne made Georgetown her home. It was there that she met the love of her life, beginning a 45-year marriage that stands as a true testament to love and devotion. Together, they built a joyful life, raising three children and later welcoming eight cherished grandchildren into their loving home. Anne was known for her bubbly personality and caring, generous heart. She never met a stranger.

Anne devoted her life to raising her children and creating a loving, welcoming home. She cherished her time on the field—coaching softball and cheering from the sidelines—as she supported her children in all their pursuits. With her big heart and easygoing spirit, her home quickly became a favorite gathering place for their friends. Known affectionately as the “cool mom,” Anne wore that title with pride—but she never hesitated to keep everyone in line when needed, always striking the perfect balance between fun and firm.

Anne was a devoted member of Duncan Memorial Methodist Church for 49 years—a journey of faith that began when her father became the church’s pastor in 1976. Her deep commitment was evident through her generous spirit and unwavering willingness to serve. Always quick to help those in need, Anne was someone others could count on. She never hesitated to speak up for what mattered, guided by both conviction and compassion.

When she wasn’t caring for her family or serving others, Anne made time for the pursuits she loved. She could often be found tending her garden, where her green thumb coaxed both vibrant flowers and bountiful vegetables from the earth. On quiet days, she would slip away to fish—another cherished pastime that offered her peaceful moments of reflection.

Anne is survived by her husband and their children: Katherine “Katie” Scott Egger (Paul), Robert “Charles” Scott, Jr. (Ashley), and Caroline Howell Scott. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Madison Egger, Riley Egger, Sawyer Scott, Collette Scott, Blaine Scott, Ryder Scott, Parker Sanders, and Cooper Sanders. In addition, she leaves behind two brothers, Robert Joseph Howell, Jr. and Timothy Howell, several nieces and cherished family members who were like sisters to her, as well as her special friend, Mrs. Debbie Kaufman.

Those she leaves behind will forever remember Anne as someone who lit up every room she entered. Her warmth, presence, and love left an indelible mark on their hearts. Their lives are forever changed by the profound loss of such a remarkable woman.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Duncan Memorial Methodist Church. The family will receive visitors in the parlor one hour prior.

The Scott family would like to express their gratitude to the team at Agape Hospice for their care.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Duncan Memorial Methodist Church Stephen Ministry or the church’s Nurture Group, 901 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC 29440.

The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.

Eibe Ernest “Ernie” Meyer III, 88, beloved husband of Laura Jones Meyer, passed away peacefully at his home in Georgetown, SC, on July 19, 2025.

Born on December 16, 1936, in Colleton County, SC, Ernie was the son of Eibe Ernest Meyer, Jr. and Ethel Ritter Meyer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers: Ken “Tootie” Hudson, Jack Hudson, and Robert Hudson. He was also predeceased by his loyal four-legged companion of many years, Fuz the talking cat.

Ernie grew up faithfully attending First Baptist Church and, after marrying the love of his life, became a devoted member of Prince George Winyah Church, where he worshiped for more than 60 years.

A proud veteran, Ernie served six years in the National Guard followed by two years in the Reserve. Known for his unmatched physical strength and calm, steady leadership, Ernie worked for 43 years at International Paper as a maintenance supervisor. He retired with pride—and a service pin he treasured. In retirement, he continued to serve and connect with others through his part-time work at Cape Romain Marine for over 15 years, where he was affectionately known as “Capt’n Ernie” and deeply respected by his Cape Romain family.

An avid outdoorsman, Ernie found great joy in hunting and fishing. He was a member of several dove hunting clubs over the years, and his love of deer hunting—especially at the North Santee Hunting Club—was one of his greatest passions. Gifted with an engineer’s mind, he had a remarkable talent for turning plans into reality through woodworking. Though highly skilled in many areas, Ernie remained humble and never boasted. He quietly cared for those around him and lived by the words, “I just do what God tells me to.”

Ernie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Laura Meyer; his daughter, Kimberly M. Powers (Jack); two grandchildren, Andie Downs (Michael) and Jackie S. “Jackson” Powers III; honorary granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Marini; and six nieces and nephews: Lyn Owen, Reynel Evans (Randy), Rey Branton (Robin), Cathi Jones (Susan Hancks), Susan Jones Zendt, and Linda Beck (David). He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss him deeply.

A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church of Georgetown on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 11:00 A.M., with Rev. Keith Wall officiating. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Prince George Winyah Church Cemetery.

Sylvia Hearl Parsons passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and love. Born on February 19, 1939, to Virginia and Richard Hearl, Sylvia grew up with a strong sense of family and faith that shaped her life and the lives of so many around her. She was predeceased by her beloved parents and her three sisters, Peggy Camlin, Linda Floyd, and Beth Duke.

In 1963, Sylvia married the love of her life, Louis P. Parsons, with whom she shared 43 joyful years until his passing in 2006. Together, they built a beautiful life in Georgetown, South Carolina, raising three children: Ellen P. Thames (Tim) of Columbia, SC; Payton Parsons (Wendy) of Pawleys Island, SC; and Joy Parsons, who passed away in 2019. Her five grandchildren—Alice Clark, Anna Parsons, Mac Thames, L.P. Parsons, and Ashley Parsons—will especially miss their cherished “Granna,” whose constant presence at their games, performances, and everyday moments was a gift they will never forget.

Sylvia was a lifelong member of Georgetown Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Her clear soprano voice and radiant smile were a source of comfort and joy to all who heard and saw her. She also sang with the Indigo Choral Society, one of her great passions and pleasures.

Warmth and welcome defined Sylvia’s home, where friends and family were always embraced. She had a true gift for hospitality, especially during the beloved four-day Parsons Thanksgiving celebration she joyfully hosted each year. Around her table, laughter, love, and good food were always in abundance. Her many nieces and nephews will fondly remember those gatherings and the special place Sylvia held in their lives.

Sylvia worked alongside her husband, Louis, in building Parsons Nursery, a family business founded in 1959. In more recent years, she continued that work side by side with her son Payton, forming close bonds with many friends and colleagues in the nursery industry.

To know Sylvia was to know a generous, kind, and loving woman—whether you called her Momma, Granna, Aunt, sister, or friend.

A memorial service will be held at Georgetown Presbyterian Church on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. with a reception immediately following. Burial will be at Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens following the reception.

W. Wilson Lowery Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in DeBordieu Colony, Georgetown, South Carolina, on July 3, 2025, after a long battle with cancer. He was a leader in both the corporate world and public service. He was 81 years old.

Born on April 3, 1944, Wilson lived a life marked by dedication and a profound commitment to his family, friends, and community. His formative years were spent growing up on the family farm in Trenton, North Carolina, an upbringing that instilled in him a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for the land and community that shaped him.

A proud Tar Heel, Wilson earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating Phi Beta Kappa. It was during his time at UNC that he met the love of his life, Patricia, with whom he built a loving family.

Immediately following his academic career, Wilson embarked on a nearly 30-year journey with IBM. His talent and drive took him and his family across the globe, living and working in various cities throughout the United States, France, and Japan. He rose through the ranks, holding senior leadership positions in IBM finance, including CFO of Asia Pacific, Vice President of Reengineering, and Chairman of IBM Credit Corporation. His son, Layne, proudly continues his legacy at IBM today.

Upon his retirement from IBM, Wilson and Patricia realized a long-held dream, building their home in DeBordieu. However, after September 11th his call to service was far from over. He was appointed as the Executive Assistant Director Administration at the FBI, where he played a pivotal role in the transformation and digitization of the bureau under Director Robert Mueller.

In his well-deserved retirement, Wilson cultivated a passion for woodworking, creating beautiful pieces that now grace the homes of his family and friends.

Wilson dedicated much of his retirement to giving back to the DeBordieu community. He served multiple times on the DeBordieu Colony Community Association (DCCA) board in numerous capacities. His contributions were recently recognized by Habitat for Humanity, with a home erected in Georgetown bearing his name.

Anyone fortunate enough to have met Wilson witnessed his characteristic kindness, warmth, wit, intelligence, and determination. He was a true gentleman who treated everyone he encountered with genuine respect and dignity.

Wilson was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanette Lowery, his father, Woodrow Wilson Lowery Sr., and his nephew Robby Daughety.
