✨November is American Diabetes Month✨

What is diabetes? And what do the different types mean? During American Diabetes Month, we aim to bring awareness to the different types, and to the impacts it has to your health💭

Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes, mainly affecting adults. With this type, your body doesn’t make enough insulin and/or your body’s cells don’t respond normally to the insulin.

Type 1 diabetes is different. This type is an autoimmune disease in which your immune system attacks and destroys insulin-producing cells in your pancreas.

What is prediabetes? Prediabetes means you have a higher-than-normal blood sugar level. It's not high enough to be considered type 2 diabetes yet.

Without lifestyle changes, adults and children with prediabetes are at high risk to develop type 2 diabetes.

Prediabetes can be managed to bring your blood sugar back down to normal levels. Changes to your lifestyle, including diet and exercise can help get levels back to normal.🏃
