Did you know chiropractic care can naturally reduce inflammation throughout your body?

Research shows that consistent chiropractic care decrease inflammatory chemicals like tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-1 beta, while activating your body’s built-in anti-inflammation system through the vagus nerve.

When the body is in a state of ease, it can reduce swelling and fluid buildup along joint dysfunctions while triggering the release of healing substances that repair tissues naturally.

Chiropractic was built on the foundation of creating balance and ease within the nervous system. By calming the nervous system (getting out of fight or flight patterns), adjustments help release helpful chemicals that reduce inflammation while regulating stress responses.

Plus, chiropractic care can break the inflammation cycle by fixing structural problems that produce pain-causing molecules.

With each visit, you’re strengthening your body’s natural ability to manage inflammation, improve your stress response, and promote overall wellness.

Did you know that 5 out of 6 children will experience at least one ear infection before their 3rd birthday?

While antibiotics are commonly prescribed, many parents are looking for alternative approaches to support their child’s natural healing ability and get to the root cause.

Why ear infections may occur:
- Immature eustachian tubes that don’t drain properly
- Fluid buildup creating an environment for bacteria
- Immune system that’s still developing
- Poor lymphatic drainage around the ear and neck

What does the nervous system have to do with ear infections?
The upper cervical vertebrae (especially C1-C2) house nerves that influence:
→ Eustachian tube function
→ Lymphatic drainage
→ Immune response
→ Muscle tension affecting drainage pathways

How chiropractic care can help with chronic ear infections, but prevent them going forward:
Unlike medication which targets symptoms, pediatric chiropractic care focuses on:
- Gentle adjustments to reduce nerve interference
- Supporting proper drainage of middle ear fluid
- Enhancing immune system communication
- Addressing the root cause rather than just symptoms

Studies show that children receiving chiropractic care for ear infections experience:
- Fewer recurrent infections
- Improved drainage
- Enhanced immune function
- Reduced need for antibiotics in many cases

Our gentle, specific pediatric adjustments are nothing like adult adjustments—they use about the same pressure you’d use to test a ripe tomato! Safe, effective, and nurturing for your little one’s developing system.

Your Nervous System = Your Body’s Power Grid

Your nervous system controls every function that requires energy. When subluxations create interference, your body works overtime just to function normally - leaving you feeling drained and exhausted.

Subluxations or stress on the body can create:
🔸 Muscle Tension Overload:
Subluxations force muscles to constantly compensate and guard, like driving with your emergency brake on - it burns through energy fast!

🔸 Poor Sleep Quality:
Nervous system interference disrupts deep sleep phases where your body recharges, leaving you running on empty.

🔸 Cellular Communication Breakdown:
When nerve signals are blocked, your cells can’t efficiently coordinate energy production - creating traffic jams in your body’s energy highways.

🔸 Chronic Stress Response:
Subluxations keep you stuck in “fight or flight” mode, which is incredibly energy-demanding and prevents proper restoration.

During an adjustment, your body goes through an immediate nervous system reset, allowing for muscle relaxation and enhanced communication. This allows your energy to be restored!

POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) affects the autonomic nervous system, causing your heart rate to spike by 30+ beats per minute when you stand up. This can leave you feeling dizzy, fatigued, and struggling with brain fog, nausea, and rapid heartbeat.

While POTS can be challenging to manage, nervous system-focused chiropractic care offers a natural approach that works with your body’s own healing mechanisms.

Chiropractic care focuses on optimizing neuro-spinal balance—especially in the upper cervical region —to improve nerve signal transmission and support autonomic nervous system function.

By addressing imbalances within the body, chiropractic care can help reduce stress on your nervous system, improve blood flow, and promote better balance between your sympathetic (fight or flight) and parasympathetic (rest and digest) systems.

If you’re dealing with POTS symptoms, then gentle, specialized chiropractic care could be your answer for naturally managing and regulating symptoms that can be associated with POTS.💙

“Why isn’t my baby latching properly?” 🤱

If you’re struggling with breastfeeding, you’re not alone! Many moms are told it’s “normal” for nursing to be painful or difficult, but what if there’s more to the story than just a tongue tie?

Here’s what most people don’t realize: tongue ties aren’t just about the tissue under the tongue. They’re often connected to tension patterns throughout your baby’s entire body, especially in the neck, jaw, and cranial area.

During birth, even the most natural deliveries can create restrictions in your baby’s upper neck and cranial bones. This tension affects how their jaw moves, how their tongue functions, and ultimately how well they can latch and feed.

When we address these nervous system restrictions through gentle pediatric adjustments:
- Jaw tension decreases, allowing better mouth opening
- Tongue movement becomes more coordinated
- Neck mobility improves, making positioning easier
- Overall body tension releases, helping baby feel more comfortable

Many parents find that after gentle chiropractic care, their baby’s latch improves dramatically - sometimes even without needing a tongue tie revision. And for babies who do need the procedure, pre-and post-care with chiropractic can make the healing process smoother and more effective.

Your baby’s feeding difficulties aren’t a reflection of your abilities as a mother. Sometimes their little bodies just need extra and gentle support to function the way they’re designed to.

If you’re dealing with painful nursing, poor weight gain, or endless feeding struggles, know that there are options beyond just “toughing it out.” Your feeding journey matters, and so does your comfort!

Ready to explore how nervous system care might help your nursing relationship? At Phillips Chiropractic we are focused on giving both you and your baby the support you deserve throughout this journey! Give our office a call to get you and your baby scheduled today!

Did you know your brain physically changes after just ONE chiropractic adjustment? 🤯

Most people think chiropractic care is for back pain, but the real influence between the brain-body connection is: neuroplasticity - your brain’s ability to rewire itself and adapt throughout your entire life.

Your brain is constantly “rewiring” itself based on what you experience every day. When you learn something new, practice a skill, or even change your environment, your brain physically changes by creating new connections between brain cells. This is why you can learn to play an instrument at any age, recover from injuries, or develop new habits.

Just like a muscle gets stronger when you exercise it, your brain gets better at whatever you practice or expose it to regularly. The key is that your brain needs the right signals and stimulation to make these positive changes - and this is where chiropractic care comes can create change, by making sure your nervous system can communicate clearly so your brain can adapt and function at its best.

Nervous system-focused chiropractic care doesn’t just move bones around. It removes that interference, allowing your brain to:
✨ Create new neural pathways
✨ Process information more efficiently
✨ Switch into healing mode (parasympathetic state)
✨ Coordinate all your body systems better

If your brain controls everything in your body, wouldn’t you want it functioning at its absolute best?

This isn’t about chasing symptoms.

It’s about optimizing the master system that runs your entire life. When your nervous system is clear and connected, you don’t just feel better - you think clearer, sleep deeper, and handle stress much easier!

What is the master controller withIN your body?

Your BRAIN serves as mission control, containing 86 billion neurons that process information and send commands, while your spinal cord acts as the information highway, carrying messages between your brain and body at speeds up to 268 miles per hour.

This partnership controls all your body systems simultaneously - your cardiovascular system (heart rate, blood pressure), respiratory system (breathing patterns), digestive system (from saliva production to muscle contractions), immune system (coordinating immune responses), endocrine system (hormone regulation), and musculoskeletal system (every movement and posture adjustment).

Even simple actions like picking up a pen involve thousands of nerve signals coordinating visual processing, motor planning, muscle activation, sensory feedback, and fine motor control - all happening in milliseconds.

While you’re reading this, your nervous system is unconsciously regulating your breathing, maintaining your posture, processing sensory input, coordinating digestion, monitoring body temperature, and managing countless other functions simultaneously.

When subluxations or stress occurs, they interfere with the precise communication between your brain and spinal cord, disrupting the coordination needed for optimal function. Since your nervous system controls everything, this interference can create cascading effects throughout your entire body - affecting multiple systems simultaneously and reducing your body’s ability to adapt to stress.

When your brain and spinal cord can communicate clearly, your body can express its full potential for health, healing, and vitality - supporting everything from better sleep and immune function to increased energy and overall well-being.

That tight chest feeling. The racing thoughts. The exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix. The constant feeling like you’re waiting for the other shoe to drop.

Sound familiar?

You’re not broken, anxious, or weak. You’re stuck in a nervous system pattern that’s keeping your body trapped in survival mode 24/7.

Chronic stress doesn’t just live in your mind, it literally rewires your nervous system and changes your body at a cellular level. Your heart rate variability (your nervous system’s ability to adapt and recover) plummets. Your vagus nerve, which controls your ability to rest and digest, basically goes offline.
And here’s the kicker... when chronic stress creates movement restrictions in your spine, it sends constant danger signals to your brain, keeping you locked in fight-or-flight mode even when you’re trying to relax.
It’s like having a car alarm that won’t turn off. Your nervous system is screaming “DANGER!” even when you’re safe at home on your couch.

Research shows that specific chiropractic adjustments can dramatically improve heart rate variability and activate your parasympathetic nervous system – your body’s natural “calm down” response.

When we restore proper movement to your spine and remove nerve interference, your body can finally shift out of survival mode and into healing mode.

You don’t have to live in constant fight-or-flight. Your body is designed to handle stress and then recover from it. Sometimes it just needs the right support to remember how.

Your nervous system’s role in exercise recovery, particularly in heat, cannot be overstated. It coordinates every aspect of your body’s response to heat stress, from immediate cooling mechanisms to long-term adaptation processes.

When subluxations or stress interfere with this master communication system, recovery becomes compromised, performance suffers, and health risks increase.

At Phillips Chiropractic, we understand that optimal nervous system function is crucial for athletes and active individuals, especially those training and competing in challenging environmental conditions like in the heat of the summer. By ensuring your nervous system can communicate clearly and efficiently, we help support your body’s innate ability to adapt to heat stress and recover optimally from exercise in challenging conditions.

Whether you’re a weekend sand volleyballer dealing with the summer heat or a competitive athlete training year-round, supporting your nervous system through chiropractic care provides the foundation for safe, effective exercise and optimal recovery in any environmental condition.

The vagus nerve, our body’s longest cranial nerve, acts as a communication system connecting the brain to vital organs and plays a crucial role in our natural healing abilities.

This cranial nerve controls essential functions like heart rate, digestion, and inflammation response while serving as the master regulator of our parasympathetic nervous system - the “rest and digest” mode that allows healing to occur.

When properly stimulated, the vagus nerve activates our immune system, reduces inflammation, and creates the optimal internal environment for self-healing.

Research shows that higher vagus nerve activity correlates with improved heart rate variability (HRV), which scientists use as a biomarker for overall health and resilience.

OPTIONAL ADD IN IF YOU DO INSIGHT SCANS: This is why in our office, we use Heart Rate Variability as one way to not only create a customized care plan for you to achieve your health goals, but track your progress along the way!

Chiropractic care offers a natural, non-invasive approach to stimulating the vagus nerve and enhancing our innate healing potential. Through intentional chiropractic adjustments, particularly in the upper cervical region where the vagus nerve is closely positioned, each adjustment can directly influence vagal activity. These adjustments not only correct work with restoring balance and ease withIN the body, but also trigger the release of beneficial neurochemicals that reduce inflammation and promote healing.

Staying consistent with chiropractic care helps patients experience improved digestion, reduced anxiety, stronger immune response, and accelerated healing - all through the body’s own self-regulatory mechanisms.

About Dr.Shelby

Hi y’all my name is Dr. Shelby Phillips. I am a local chiropractor in Georgetown, Texas. I was born and raised in Georgetown, Texas. My family has been in Georgetown since the 1800s, so this town means a lot to my family and me. I attended Georgetown High School, I graduated in 2011. I continued my education at Texas State University (Eat em’ up cats), where I got my degree in exercise sports science. In 2015, I began my chiropractic journey at Parker University.
