Social media has transformed the way we connect, offering invaluable support and community, especially during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, with this increased use, it’s essential to be mindful of its impact on mental health, particularly for young people.

Seeking validation is a natural part of growing up. However, when self-worth heavily depends on external validation, negative feedback can significantly harm one's self-esteem. 🤳

By understanding the factors that increase a young person's vulnerability to negative social media experiences, we can create better interventions. Young individuals with a history of trauma or adversity are more susceptible to online bullying, negative feedback, and difficulties in regulating their social media use. 💬
