Brushing too hard can do more harm than good. Scrubbing aggressively doesn’t mean cleaner teeth. It can actually wear down enamel and irritate your gums. The trick is to use a soft-bristle toothbrush in gentle circular motions and brush for a full 2 minutes. Think of brushing like massaging rather than scrubbing. If your toothbrush bristles fray quickly or your gums bleed often, it might be time to rethink your technique.

You shouldn't brush your teeth directly after dinner. After eating, the acid from the food you've consumed has weakened your enamel. Brushing immediately afterwards may remove some of the enamel from the surface of your teeth. Instead, wait about an hour after dinner to brush. For more dental tips, contact us at (901) 754-3033.
