This week’s client success story is from a client I worked with about 6 months ago, who was experiencing a lot of negative self-talk, some self-esteem issues, & also depression from the loss of her husband passing away a few years ago.
She had previously been on anti-depressants, but she didn’t like how they made her feel. She was tired of always being so cynical with herself and thinking negatively about everything. Instead, she wanted to feel happy again, and to trust herself and the decisions she makes.
When we first started working together, she was very negative about everything – not just herself, but about situations, other people, and the world in general. She also admitted that she was very stubborn and was even doubting hypnosis would help her to change. But she knew she had to do SOMETHING. (This is normal – I hear this all the time from my clients.)
After her first session, she came back a week later and said she felt overall calmer when dealing with situations. I said, “That’s good! There is positive progress, even if it’s a little. Please continue to trust the process.” She told me that’s the problem at the moment. That she has a hard time trusting. So we worked on that in her second session.
She came back a week later to her third session appointment and said she’d had a moment where she said to herself “it’s all going to be okay,” and then turned around and said something cynical about it, but immediately said to herself, “You JUST got done saying it’s all going to be okay, so why are you talking negatively and doubting?”
So, she was aware now that her subconscious WAS making changes behind the scenes. However, her conscious mind was trying to override that! When I pointed that out, she had a lightbulb moment & I think that was truly the turning point for her.
When she came back for her fourth session, she was a completely different person. I mean that in EVERY sense. She was much calmer, more relaxed, smiling more as she was talking, and gave off a genuinely happy vibe. The way she spoke was even very different. Before, she spoke negatively about everything, and in that session she was speaking much more positively about the situations she’d had over the past week.
She said she no longer dreaded doing certain activities throughout her day. One example she gave was playing with her dogs. She said before, it felt like an obligation – something she HAD to do, but that past week she said she did it because she WANTED to do it, and she actually enjoyed it!
I heard back from her recently (after a few months of having finished working with her) and she reported she’s still feeling good about herself AND life in general. She still has positive thoughts about her day-to-day activities and situations instead of the “sky is falling” mentality she had when she first walked through my office door.
