We are thrilled to announce that our newest Employee of the Month is someone who defines the word reliable: Debbie Smith.
If you’ve ever wondered why she’s always here with a smile, it might be because she’s had a lot of practice showing up—she holds the incredible record of perfect attendance throughout both her LPN and RN schooling!
While we know her today as a nursing rock star, her journey had a bit of a "numbers-only" detour. Back in high school, she dreamed of nursing but had one major hurdle: a fear of needles! She played it safe at first and earned an AA in Accounting, but the world of tax brackets couldn't compete with her heart for helping others.
She eventually faced her fears, jumping into LPN school in 1995. She started her career in Manchester at Longview and kept the momentum going all the way to earning her RN in 2005. We are so glad she decided to trade the ledger for the lab!
Beyond her professional life, she has a very special title you might not guess: Great-Grandmother! Her family is her pride and joy, and that same nurturing spirit is exactly what earned her this month’s award.
If she could have any superpower or be any character, she’d skip the cape and go for the bunny ears. Growing up, she always loved Bugs Bunny, and we think that’s fitting. Like Bugs, she’s quick on her feet, handles every situation with a cool head, and always brings a bit of fun to the hallways.
Congratulations on being our Employee of the Month! Thank you for your dedication, your history of "showing up," and for everything you do for our residents.
