A new report from the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) reveals the highest number of countries persecuting Christians in recorded history, with faith communities facing imprisonment, violence and even death simply for practicing their beliefs.

Nowhere is that violence more lethal than in Nigeria, where USCIRF reports over 80% of religion-based murders in 2024 occurred.

Rebecca Dali, a former captive of Boko Haram, was one of several witnesses to share her violent reality, having now documented thousands of killings by the extremist group.

January mental health minutes:
For many folks January means new beginnings.
While new ways of living are usually hopeful, for those who experience loss it can lead to loneliness and isolation.
When we suffer a loss we are looking at life through a new lens. Things are different-either by choice or circumstance and we through the process of Grief.
I like to call this “Sacred time”, when profound emotions and time seems to stand still, where our mind and spirit try to make sense of what is happening.
It is important to treat ourselves gently, take the time we need to become who we will be going forward.
Kind words from others who share this time are invaluable but we all go through the process of denial, anger, bargaining , depression and acceptance although not in that order. “Feeling the feels” of loss is how we honor relationships we have had and the love we shared with one another.
No matter what our loss is, we deserve to honor this “sacred time” and we are worth it. 💕

December Mental Health Minutes:
The holiday season can elicit a range of emotions, from goodwill and gratitude to stress and fear. For many, having faith – whether spiritual, historical, or borrowed from others' positivity – can provide comfort and reassurance. It's essential to recognize that we're not alone in our struggles and that reaching out to others can help alleviate our burdens. By sharing our troubles, we can reduce them and tap into the kindness and helpfulness of those around us. Wishing you meaningful connections and a joyful holiday season – you are worth it! ❤️

Normalize talking about mental illness. I think awareness has increased especially with younger generations due to social media awareness but I like this reminder:

Dangers of Cannabis and driving… the cannabis industry needs to educate users on not driving while high. Just like alcohol industry did.

Over 40% of fatal crash victims had THC levels far above legal limits, showing cannabis use before driving remains widespread. The rate didn’t drop after legalization, suggesting policy changes haven’t altered risky habits. Experts warn that the lack of public awareness around marijuana’s dang...

August Mental Health Minutes:

Feels like summer is winding down but we actually have over 6 weeks left, and so much we want to fit in!
Do you ever feel like there is much to do yet feel overwhelmed at getting started?

Make a list…✍️

Sounds like a “duh”moment but if you suffer from any neurodivergent / anxiety or even depression, making a list can be a way to get those actions done and checking them off is a dopamine hit!

I tend to make tons of them and lose them along the way, but if I can start a short list- maybe 5 things to do today…I am heading in the right direction.

Small actions mean a lot, I repeat ….small actions mean a lot.
Often something seems “too big” or “too much”, but broken down it becomes a reality.

Remember the “Pyramids weren’t built in a day.” (Just a saying, we won’t get into the politics on here…)

So make your list, check it off and be proud for your work today, you are worth it!✌️😊💕

June mental health minutes:
Is it Summer? ☀️☀️Is it warm - not here in Buffalo but trending…
Many times we are in phase of transition toward ➡️ or ⬅️ away from something we have known.
Either way fear has a way of creeping in there, making us question ourselves: “Did we do the right thing? Will I be okay? Maybe I should’ve done X,Y, Z?”
🤔So…how can we manage fear when it keeps us stuck in a situation that causes anxiety?
Welp, there are a few slogans ( 12 step based) that seem appropo here…

“Face Everything And Recover”
“False Evidence Appearing Real”
“Faith is Fear that said its Prayers. “

Little sayings that encourage us along.

We trust that as Summer will eventually come, so will change. We can rely that we have continually adapted in our life and will do so again, but little sayings and phrases help us to remember:
“Things tend to work out” - my fav.

Think of what may be one of your sayings and feel free to share below.

We all deserve to have some peace✌️of mind 🤯- even in uncertain times and we are well worth it! 💕
