Blake Bluhm, age 28, of Gibbon passed away Saturday, May 9, 2026 at the New Ulm Medical Center in New Ulm. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026 at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home South Chapel in New Ulm. Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 23,

South View suffered a devastating loss this weekend when Blake Bluhm, an 8 year veteran caregiver and beloved team member, lost his life by su***de.

His Mom, Cory, has been part of the South View community for the whole 22 years it has been in existence, and is currently the Activity Director. Blake was her only child.

The amazing staff at South View continue their work of caring for the residents while they are heartbroken at this loss. Please keep each of them in your prayers.

Thank you to the Gibbon police, Sibley county sheriffs department and the EMS crew that responded to this incident. We are so grateful for your service.

A celebration of life is being planned and we will be sharing ways you can support Cory during this unimaginable time. Please keep her and Blake’s extended family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

This song “Trust the Process” felt appropriate for this post because we’ve had some big bumps lately with our plans to build to the north.

The site survey results came back mid December and we found out that all of the utility lines were in between the current lot South View sits on, and the lot we would build on.

After civil engineers met with the city to ask for an easement and did research into what it would cost to move those lines, it was clear it is not financially feasible to build north as we had hoped.

However, there are options to build to the East. Here is a video showing an exterior view of that.

A few positives we didn’t have with the north addition:
1. 5 new rooms instead of 4 because we would have to move room 12.
2. The sunroom would have a beautiful east facing view to see the sunrise every morning. 🌅

So, we are trusting the process. 😉
