We are a premiere manufacturer whose mission is to create products that solve the problems for families with special needs. Our founder, Rose Morris, started this company because she had to solve a problem for her own family - how to keep her son, Abram who is on the autism spectrum, safe at night from wandering. Rather than sitting back and waiting for someone else to solve this problem, she went

out and developed the solution herself. Now, over 10 years later, she, along with her team of experts, continue to develop new lines of products such as the Wheely Cape, Fidget Folder and Weight Mate that help and support the daily activities of special needs families.

"Find joy in the everyday" - Rose’s journey*

Abram can truly be a joy, but he can also make me walk on eggshells – and maneuver around landmines instead of setting them off. I spent many of the early years unintentionally setting off those landmines.

He is driven and dedicated to any task he takes on. He does his own laundry, and he even folds it, which is more than I can expect even from myself.

Abram loves pushing buttons, sometimes figuratively but always literally. We have found that the trick is to turn his obsession into something that works for us. I can give Abram a choice and make sure I would be happy with either option.

Whether Abram chooses to load the dishwasher or start a load of laundry, I love the result either way. A few years ago, Abram took to handwashing dishes, and you won’t hear this mama complaining!

This was a huge milestone for us because he had conquered some sensory issues, and I am delighted with the result. When I focus on the joy Abram brings me, I can appreciate the positive side of simple, everyday things.

“I learned the power of hope.” - Rose's journey*

Very early on, Abram’s pediatrician made a simple statement: “It gets better.” I didn’t believe her, but I really needed it to get better, so I had to at least hold on to hope. It’s hard enough parenting a two- or three-year-old, and it’s exponentially harder when there is a diagnosis involved.

Years later, we were attending an event, and I saw Abram's pediatrician. It was so great to see her again, mom-to-mom, and to share with her how impactful her words had been to me over the years.

I’m grateful for the power of hope and share it with other parents. My “better” may look different than yours, but there is a better. With time, you really get to know your child and their needs. You develop a stronger support system. And you realize what’s important and how to focus your physical and emotional energy on those things.

I share my hope that every parent reaches that point – where it’s possible to find the positive in each situation and celebrate every achievement, large and small. I am grateful to Abram for teaching me how to be a better parent to each of my children. You learn how to truly appreciate the simple and the routine. With a little patience and a lot of hope, we can navigate this journey. It does get better.

"Live with gratitude" sounds like a lovely sentiment, but in the middle of an autism journey, it’s actually a survival skill.

At times, I reflect on my family’s journey and how an autism diagnosis redirected the life plans I had laid out so intentionally in my mind. I remember the validation of diagnosis day – and I knew the fight I needed to prepare for in the upcoming battle of my life. I also knew I needed help.

Over time, I learned to shift from planning life events to focusing on what’s important and taking it one day at a time. I appreciate that lesson now more than ever. As our world continued to adjust to the reality, adapting to canceled plans has become all too familiar.

Over the years, I reached a place of gratitude for how our autism journey continues to make me a better parent and person. I learned not only to be thankful for the blessings in my life, but to be purposeful in my gratitude.

When Abram had a meltdown, I knew that my actions could exacerbate the situation. In the moment, my instinct was to tell Abram exactly what I wanted him to do and expected him to follow.

As every parent knows, that just won’t work. I have learned, instead, that I must be intentional about my mindset.

I worked hard on shifting my mindset toward gratitude, especially in those moments when I’m feeling pushed to the limit, and not letting my frustration take over. I remember my thoughts during that time – that I would never hear Abram say the words “I love you.” I relied on the lessons I learned from my family’s autism journey to remind myself to focus on what’s important.

The biggest thing I’ve learned – and it hasn’t been easy – is patience.

Staying calm doesn't come naturally to me, so I’ve had to learn how to just breathe through the heat of the moment. When I chose to be patient, all that mental clutter started to settle down. I felt more like myself again, and that peace made it so much easier to actually connect with Abram. I could finally be the person he needed to help him move through his moment, rather than just reacting to it.

Navigating Summer Travel ✈️ 🧳

For families with special needs, packing for a vacation isn't just about clothes and sunscreen. It’s about figuring out how to recreate a safe, secure, and familiar environment when everything else changes.

Whether you are heading to Grandma’s house, a hotel room, or a new vacation destination, a change in scenery can disrupt the vital sensory routines your child relies on to sleep through the night.

That is why we designed The Safety Sleeper to be completely portable. It folds down securely into a standard 29-inch wheeled suitcase, it’s considered medical equipment (which means it typically flies for FREE - be sure to check with your airline), and it ensures your child’s safe sleep routine stays exactly the same, no matter where you are.

Did you know you don't have to own a bed to travel with one?

To help make your family getaways a reality this summer, we offer a dedicated Weekly Rental Program. It gives your child the same enclosure, protection, and peace of mind they need to prevent wandering - without the commitment of a permanent purchase.

Supply is limited for the summer travel season, so we recommend making your inquiry early.

Feeling stuck with insurance?

Let’s talk about getting The Safety Sleeper covered.

We know the feeling when you hear “Denied.” You find the perfect solution for your child’s safety, a bed that will finally let everyone sleep through the night without fear of wandering or injury, only to hit a brick wall with insurance.

Did you start the process by reaching out directly to your insurance company? If so, let us guide you with the right steps to help your chances of getting coverage.

Many families have shared how frustrating it is to hear "denied" or "not covered," especially when The Safety Sleeper is a vital medical necessity in their daily lives. The process can feel like a maze of paperwork and technicalities.

But don't give up! Many families have successfully secured full coverage by following a specific roadmap. If you’re fighting for a special needs bed, here are 4 key steps to help you get that "Yes":

1️⃣ Partner with the experts: You don’t have to do this alone. Reach out to the manufacturer (Abram's Nation) first. We can connect you with a local Durable Medical Equipment (DME) provider who specializes in handling the paperwork for these beds.

2️⃣ The "Letter of Medical Necessity" is everything: Your doctor or therapist needs to write more than just a prescription. This letter must explain why a standard bed isn’t safe and how The Safety Sleeper treats specific medical or behavioral needs.

3️⃣ Prove "less restrictive" methods failed: Insurance companies often want to see that you’ve tried other options first. Be sure to document why things like child-safe door locks, window alarms, or standard hospital beds didn't work for your child’s unique needs.

4️⃣ Tell your story: Don’t be afraid to include a personal letter. While the doctors provide the medical data, your story about your child’s safety and your family’s well-being can be a powerful addition to the clinical files.

The road to coverage can be frustrating, but peace of mind and a safe night's sleep are worth the effort.
