We do know how to heal trauma and PTSD! And the credit goes to the brave and resilient people who found the right therapist, stuck with therapy, and were willing to try ‘weird things.’ Their time and effort revealed to all of us what actually helps, vs what doesn’t. My thanks and gratitude goes out to all those how have experienced Brainspotting, held hope for a better life, and worked with the support of a therapist to make that hope a reality. Brainspotting has changed my personal life, as well as my professional life. 💙

Stepping out of the ‘self’ and into the ‘space between self and others’ has significant implications for our lives and communities we are part of.
-
By truly focusing our attention on the ‘space between self and others,’ it allows us to truly be in relationships that promote listening, validating, and empathizing. -
-
In contrast, holding back and remaining only within the ‘self,’ it limits our ability to truly be seen, heard, and open to other possibilities/perspectives.
-
By stepping in the ‘space between self and others’ we open up doors for communities to heal and repair, particularly after shared existential trauma of a global pandemic and social/political unrest.

As the season shifts to warmer weather in Washington State, we can connect more and more with nature. With these opportunities, let’s find moments of meditation/prayer in nature that energize us, gives us peace, or provide a spark of inspiration. This moment captured was certainly peaceful.

Had the honor of witnessing the master of neuroexperiential therapy, David Grand, in the Master Class. It was a full three day long training packed with learning and healing. I continue to be honored by the humility of David and the truly supportive community of my fellow BSP therapists! 💙

So many messages offer quick fixes to feel better, to do better, to earn more, and to be more happy. For a period of time, those quick fixes may appear to produce what they promise, but eventually the effect fades away. And we are left with searching for the next ‘thing’ while feeling empty, miserable, and directionless.

Instead consider this, what is the number one resource you have in your life? Your body, and most importantly your brain! Taking care of and maintaining the health of your brain is one of the best investments you can make in your lifestyle. It is central to successful relationships, satisfying careers, navigating parenthood, and reaching personal goals.
-
Enhance your brain health:
🛌Sleep
🏋️Exercise, especially resistance training
👯‍♀️Spend time with others socially
📚Learn something new regularly
🙏Express gratitude
🥗Eat to fuel your brain/body
🗣Heal negative thoughts/traumas with therapy

Merry Christmas to those that are celebrating today and happy holidays to everyone this season. It has been a trying year to say the least for us all and we have made it this far. Take additional time this winter morning to reflect on what we are grateful for and what things we can extend forgiveness towards.

Continue to ponder how to let go of lingering resentment while continuing to affirm accountability to see needed changes in our lives.

forgiveness defined n. willfully putting aside feelings of resentment toward an individual who has committed a wrong, been unfair or hurtful, or otherwise harmed one in some way. Forgiveness is not equated with reconciliation or excusing another, and it is not merely accepting what happened or ceasing to be angry.

.... Rather, it involves a voluntary transformation of one’s feelings, attitudes, and behavior toward the individual, so that one is no longer dominated by resentment and can express compassion, generosity, or the like toward the individual. ~American Psychological Association

Let’s think about this definition of forgiveness. Have you learned a different definition of forgiveness in your family? in your friendship? or in your local community? Does this definition align with what you already understand?
