How to optimize development for your child. I do not believe a child can develop optimal movement patterns when being corrected by external forces, because it overrides their natural learning process. Rather, using somatic methods, you can support that process by “cleaning-up” their organization. When they no longer have organizational struggles getting in the way of their learning process, they are able to continue progress towards the next milestone. It’s not a quick fix – it’s a constant and continuous process of learning, but you can support and accelerate that natural process if you understand the complexity of movement and how to create the conditions to influence the motor planning feedback loop.

Can you believe there is a syndrome named for this? The AAP has said on average today's babies spend about 6 hours per day in containers. That's obviously too much. What are containers? In my opinion, it's anything that restricts a babies movement. So carseats, highchairs, bouncy chairs, swings, etc. In addition, most of these containers have buckles that stretch across the pelvis - effectively immobilizing it. ...
