When do you recommend hepatitis B vaccine for your patients?

This , the AAP is highlighting the importance of the hepatitis B vaccine at birth. Hepatitis B is a serious liver infection that can be passed from mother to baby at birth. But because of the vaccine, it’s preventable.

The first dose of the hepatitis B vaccine is recommended within 24 hours of birth, giving infants a strong start toward lifelong protection. Pediatricians can answer questions parents have about the hepatitis B vaccine series.

Protect yourself and your community:
• Stay up to date on vaccines, especially if you are traveling to a measles hotspot location
• Mask in crowded indoor spaces
• Wash hands often
• Stay home if you feel sick
