This week, we were excited to host the second session of a resident-led self-defense class at Heron’s Key, and the turnout and energy were fantastic.
Led by a resident who is a longtime martial arts student and instructor and a 4th degree black belt, the class focused on practical strategies to help residents feel prepared, aware, and confident. Participants explored the idea of mind over matter and adaptable techniques designed to build confidence through practice.
While it is a topic we wish we did not have to cover, having the tools and confidence to stay safe is an empowering skill set at any age. This class grew from resident interest and will continue as an ongoing offering.
Thank you to our instructor and to everyone who showed up ready to learn, engage, and support one another.
