My great-grandfather was an immigrant, like many American ancestors. I was able to visit Ellis Island several years ago and found the ship information and the date he arrived in America. That was a great day.

I have always loved doing family history work-searching records and finding family members. It can get really exciting sometimes and very humbling when you find someone that you feel a connection with. I had that experience this past week. I found a family on my mother's side from Denmark. The family name is Rasmussen. The father is Peder and the mother is Sidse Marie Mikkelsen Jensen. They had several children, among which are 3 daughters-Rasmine, Anna Marie and Emilie. As soon as I saw this family, I felt a connection with them. I have felt them close to me as I have taken their names to the temple and look forward to having them sealed as a family.

Had a good time last night in the Family Search Center! The young women came and spent some time doing research on their families. Thanks to Jossie, Tasha, Ashtyn, Khloe, and Janie for spending time with me! Also enjoyed a surprise visit from Elder Droge and Elder Skidmore.
