In honor of National Wellness Month, we wanted to showcase a few of our favorite fitness and wellness organizations within the disability community!
1. Kenzie's Kids links the special needs community and the fitness world by bringing everything needed for a fitness session to your doorstep! 2. Mikey's League exists to bring our community together through the power of inclusive sports. They achieve this goal by bringing together young athletes with physical or intellectual disabilities to compete alongside their peer partners (individuals without disabilities). 3. Arizona Disabled Sports creates opportunities that empower individuals of all abilities through sports and recreation. They have two different types of programs, which include adaptive opportunities for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities through the Team Mesa Programs, as well as adaptive opportunities for individuals with physical disabilities through the Arizona Heat Physically Challenged programs. 4. The Ability360 Sports & Fitness Center is one of only a handful of centers in the U.S. that are specifically designed for individuals with disabilities. This center provides health, fitness, and recreation programs to military veterans, individuals with disabilities, and their families, and also serves as a venue for local, national, and international adaptive sporting events.
